The location.

The bathroom could do a bit upgrade, shower doors won’t close. Not much natural light, and has a damp smell ( probably more to do with the old building itself).

What a gem … location was superb … less than 5 minutes from the bridge

Beautiful property that oozes character and rich history. Feels like (and is) a proper Renaissance palazzo, so I was thrilled to experience it from that side. The staff were quite pleasant, and organised a taxi for me to the airport, but otherwise they didn’t have much of a presence (to be expected in a property like this, though, where you’re largely left on your own). The location was also ideal, very nearby all the big Florence attractions without being in the dense touristy areas.

My apartment suffered from tons of noise coming from the unit above. It often started around 6 in the morning and went on throughout the day until 7 or 8 pm. I have no idea what was happening but the noise was quite disruptive. The bed was also somewhat uncomfortable, and the AC unit was very loud, especially at night; I often had trouble sleeping because of it. The property also didn’t have much in the way of communal spaces. Unlike most hotels (or any kinds of accommodation, really) there wasn’t a lobby or reception room in which to sit down, wait for concierge, etc. The lovely courtyard lacked any benches or chairs in which to sit and admire the beautiful fifteenth century craftsmanship of the building; it would have been an ideal space to bring a book and read, to pass an easy hour or two in peace and quiet, so it seems strange to me that the property hasn’t made the fullest use of these spaces. I would highly suggest they consider installing some kind of seating areas to make the ground floor feel more like it’s part of a residence rather than a museum or heritage project.
