This was hands down one of our best stays in Japan. Traditional Japanese style inn with western comforts. Perfect location for skiing to avoid crowds. Tucked away from the business but close enough to town. Taka and his wife were the most delightful hosts. The food and spa was wonderful. We will definitely be back!!!

I was so grateful just to find a place to stay in Nozawa Onsen as it seemed like a challenge. I wanted to stay somewhere more traditionally Japanese and this was it. Loved the views, loved the location of the hotel (can walk anywhere in town), and loved our cozy room. The staff was also super helpful in assisting us with calling a taxi. Breakfast is great!
Note that there is one shower for the entire place so you have to sign up for a shower time (which can be hard to plan while traveling when exactly you'll want to shower). There was a soaking tub that is also something you sign up for. Very easy and fine for us but for sure something for others to note. There are plenty of toilets and sinks on each floor.

The breakfast was beautifully presented.
The Japanese breakfast was absolutely wonderful.
It is a bit of a trek to the shower or bath, but we booked knowing that so it was ok.
The one shower for the whole accommodation is the only reason I make the Azegamikan lodge down slightly. Otherwise it is wonderful.
