Great bed. Host very thorough on instructions to get in. Radiator heat surprisingly adequate for freezing weather, but only in bedroom area.

Internet broken the whole week. Told to tap into the router next door, but it was very slow. No television. Cramped kitchen and eating space. Had to use spirally stairs with luggage.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ The only good point about Transparent Marais was its great location. Unfortunately, the property was not clean or comfortable, so overall it was not worth the price. However, the owner was a good communicator, which I appreciated.

Unfortunately, my stay at Transparent Marais was very disappointing. The property was not clean, with limescale and mold all over the bathroom, and a bad smell throughout the flat — we had to keep the windows open despite the cold weather. The Wi-Fi was terrible; we couldn’t even open an email, which made those two days a real struggle. Part of the building looked unsafe and near collapse, and I felt uneasy every time I passed that section. The TV was extremely outdated, at least 15 years old, with no smart features or Netflix access — quite surprising for a place in the heart of Paris. Overall, it was a very poor experience; I would never return or recommend this property.

Accuracy Matters

Property location is great. Lots of restaurants and metro within reasonable walking distance.

Check-in was messed up. Owner was non responsive until around 8 pm, yet our check in was supposed to be 2pm. He never sent lockbox code. Another traveller had our keys in their lockbox - it was a mess. Accommodations were not acceptable, but we could not move. Booking.com lists this apartment as a 1 bedroom with a living room. Turns out it’s more like a studio. Apartment door opens up on to the bed, there is a small kitchen (counter & 2 stools), and then a very small bathroom - toilet small sink and small walking-in shower. Towels are dingy and threadbare, and lighting in bedroom is poor, making room incredibly dark.

Great location, a well appointed apartment, two good size bedrooms and a large living area.

Two flights of 20 stairs each to carry up suitcases - not a major problem unless you have mobility issues.

Location! Very convenient to shops, restaurants, museums. Cleanliness- spotless apartment and had all the amenities one might need when traveling (iron, hair dryer, small refrigerator.) Convenience, small apartment, one bedroom. My son slept on the fold out couch in the living room. Very comfortable and felt like a very safe location.

A wonderful apartment in a great location and Marc is a really good host

The location is excellent with Notre Dame just a 10 minute walk, there are nice cafés and patisserie on the street. The beds were very comfortable including the sofa bed. The shower was great and the kitchen is well equipped. The lounge area is very comfortable.

This rental worked out very well for me. A great location for getting to places I wanted to go.

Marc was right there when I arrived and helped me get situated in the room. He responded quickly to texts and lined up a cab for me when I left. The room was clean and modern. It was well-lit and the two big windows looked out over the street. Convenient for shopping for necessities. The building dates from 1827, I think. I really appreciated the old finishes that were left showing.

I was a bit discouraged not to find the name or address on the outer door. Fortunately someone else was coming in at the time and confirmed it for me.

Can’t wait to return!

Marais is a perfect location with grocery, shopping, great restaurants and transportation nearby and not crazy crowded (early June). We enjoyed the apartment space and fully equipped kitchen to relax. Having a king size bed with an ensuite bathroom was a huge plus for us. We loved opening the windows and experiencing city life and sounds all around us. The history of the property is interesting. Owner Marc is an excellent host and very responsive to any questions. He assisted with transportation and Phillipe (driver) was wonderful and very helpful.

We didn’t dislike anything. The property description is accurate so be sure it matches your needs and expectations. There is no elevator and the building is old. For awareness, the nearby restaurant is lively and popular. We enjoyed the live jazz music and sounds of people dining and having fun with windows open. The noise is not bad with windows closed.

Would not stay here again.

The location was close to several metro stations, supermarket, restaurants and great shops. It is also of reasonable size The host sent clear instructions for accessing the apartment and was helpful in booking us a taxi to the airport. For clarity the apartment we booked is the one with the orange couches.

The location also meant that it was very noisy at night until the early hours of the morning We found the bed uncomfortable as it was very firm and that combined with the outside noise left us tired and sore. The bedding and towels were clean. The shower is old and difficult to access because of the placement of towel rail. We had to shuffle in sideways. The water pressure was very low and we had to run around in circles to get wet. There was a small en-suite off the bedroom but we had to shuffle sideways to get past the basin to access the toilet. If you are on the bigger side then this apartment is not for you. Also consider that there are stairs with no elevator but this is was common in several other places we stayed. There wasn’t a tv in the apartment. To be fair there isn’t one listed on the amenities but we didn’t even think to check given that it’s 2025. We were here for nearly a week and there were several occasions we would have liked to use one The fridge is small and we couldn’t stand a bottle of wine upright. It is tho, as pictured in the photos, I just didn’t look closely enough We would not rebook this apartment. It was a lot of money for not much comfort but I guess you are paying for location

Brilliant - very happy we chose this apartment

The location was great for access to the metro & local restaurants. It was away from the overcrowded tourist areas and seemed very safe at night, The apartment was comfortable and the communication with the host was excellent.

Lovely spacious clean and quaint Parisien apartment in a delightful area.

Super easy and secure process to collect keys. Helpful instructions and great pre-stay advice from Marc, the host. Very homely, clean and quaint Parisien apartment in an area full of lovely side streets, cafes, restaurants and one-off stores. So much more spacious than equivalently-priced hotel rooms in the same area. Easy to relax and chill, just what we wanted. Enjoyed buying a few supplies and stocking the fridge with cheese, meats, fruits and wine. Plenty of quality glasses, crockery and utensils available for us to use. And very nice of our host to find my missing AirPods and post them back to me, thank you Marc!

Would have liked a little more power in the shower, but happy to trade that off with everything else the flat provided.

I would never recommend this property to anyone. Be very aware of the poor value -- extremely high cost with very poor

Location is good.

Very poor value. I would never recommend this property. The owner is clearly capitalizing on location. The apartment itself is nice and "clean enough." However, the check-in was unnecessarily complicated. I was told someone would meet us there. Then I had to provide details regarding the arrival of my train. Ultimately, no one met us at the property. There was a code and key inside a mailbox. There was very limited soap, no shampoo, no conditioner, and no instructions (in English, at least) for operating the dishwasher or clothes washer. There were no paper towels and only one soap pod to wash clothes. I messaged the owner by whatsapp to ask for more supplies. He said the cleaner wasn't working the next day but she showed up very early the next morning with some limited supplies. After we checked out, I received a very rude and unwarranted message from the owner asking me what I blocked the kitchen and washroom drains with. I never used anything other than dish soap / soap and neither of the drains were blocked when I left the apartment. I told him that and he was extremely rude in his response.

great location, lots of restaurants, bars and metro stains very close by.

excellent location, easy walk to many different metros and bus stops. countless restaurant options walking distance too. lively area with a great mix of tourists and locals, spacious apartment with lots of storage, the bedroom has a 1/2 bath too, which was nice having an extra toilet when traveling with 2 teenagers. lots of city guides and maps for Paris in the apt for guests to plan their trip. there’s a cafe right downstairs too.

it’s an old building in a old part of town (it’s paris)… as long as you keep that in mind, you are fine. the bedroom mattress was ok, good enough for 4 nights. there’s no TVs… so don’t plan on watching movies or the news while on vacation. ;) all in all, we enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.

musty smelling on arrival cooking facilities were minimal close door banging all night other residents could be heard during night shouting. large group of people hanging around in close at night. No information left for how to get to places, recommendations for food, restaurants & general information on running of flat would have been helpful.

The room was a lot smaller than I expected for the cost. It was VERY noisy on our last two nights which wasn’t enjoyable at all. People drinking talking laughing at 1.30am on the staircase isn’t acceptable at all

Photos on booking are incorrect.

Good location.

The apartment that we were given was not the apartment shown in the photos when we reserved on Booking. It was smaller, lacked a sofa and washing machine and a TV. We had planned on having more space and struggled to make the place work. We were told that the booking photos are somehow incorrect, which is the problem of the manager, not the guest.
