Wahwik's House

A great place to stay, in a handy location within walking distance of Ubud centre. We had a comfortable room with a large private balcony. Inyoman Sunarta was a wonderful, kind and polite host, providing plenty of helpful local information and preparing a different fresh breakfast every day. He drove us to visit scenic rice terraces, a coffee plantation with a really informative English-speaking guide, and the impressive Pura Gunung Kawi. Inyoman also arranged a private car pick up from Denpasar Airport (where the driver waited patiently for us to get through a long and very slow queue for immigration!) and also a good value private car ride to Padangbai. Nearby Coco supermarket is a local landmark, and there are many places to eat nearby. It’s also a short walk along Hanoman Street to the Kecak Dance performance at 19:00 every Sunday - a ‘must see’ when in Ubud!

Nothing bad

The location is good, the host is polite, breakfasts are tasty, and the view from the kitchen is lovely.

However, it was uncomfortable that the windows faced directly onto the guest walkway, so the curtains had to stay closed all the time — it felt a bit like living in a cave. There’s no comfortable outdoor area to sit and relax, and although eating in the room is not allowed, there’s no proper place to eat — just a few chairs and a low table cluttered with brochures.
