Tree House

My girlfriend and I stayed here while visiting Riga for the Riga Marathon, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our Baltic trip. The location is very convenient and reasonably central. There is a shopping mall about 5–10 minutes away with a large supermarket that has almost everything you might need. Convenience stores are nearby, and even McDonald's is within walking distance. The surrounding area has plenty of bars, restaurants, and nightlife venues, making it a lively part of the city. The room was exceptionally spacious for the price. I had not realised that I had booked a family room, but it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The accommodation consisted of two connected rooms: a main room with a large queen bed and a separate room with two smaller beds. This arrangement worked perfectly for our marathon preparation and recovery. After long training sessions and race day itself, it was nice to have extra beds available for resting without disturbing our main sleeping area. Our room was on the sixth floor, but there was a lift, so carrying luggage was never an issue. There is also a common area on the fourth floor where guests can cook, relax, and meet travellers from around the world. This was where I met the staff as well. I had a particularly enjoyable conversation with one of the Japanese staff members, which added a personal touch to the stay. One thing that initially felt a little intimidating was the large number of notices reminding guests about rules and possible charges for violations. However, I suspect this is simply a result of hosting international travellers from many different backgrounds. In practice, I had no issues during my stay and was not charged anything extra. Another minor inconvenience was that the entrance to the building was often occupied by smokers, likely because of the many bars and nightlife venues nearby. While occasionally noticeable, it never became a major nuisance. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The room was excellent value, the location was convenient, and the atmosphere was welcoming. Riga ended up being my favourite destination during my two-week trip through the Baltics and Stockholm, and this accommodation certainly contributed to that experience.

I stayed on the 5th floor (6 female dormitories) and the mix gender shower and toilet is quite dirty. Not well-ventilated which makes a strange smell. Also, they don't have body wash in the bathroom which usually hostels would provide. However, the staffs are very nice. For female travelers I would recommend to stay in the 10-people dorm on the 4th floor with its own bathroom inside. Also bring earplugs, because many people despite the rules were still talking loudly in the hallway up to 3am.
