I had an absolutely lovely experience at City Westa Hotel in Riga! (3 nights stay from 3rd - 6th of April.). The location is perfect—within walking distance to many major attractions. The Central Market is right across the street, and it’s just a short walk to the Old Town, as well as nearby restaurants and shopping malls.
What really stood out was the exceptional service from the three wonderful ladies on the staff. I arrived early in the morning, around 6 a.m., and despite not speaking much English, they made a real effort to communicate with me using Google Translate, which was greatly appreciated. There was a small hiccup at check-in because they couldn't find my Agoda payment initially, but they were kind enough to let me wait at the market and grab a bite to eat. By 9 a.m., a new staff member came in and was able to check me in. They even let me into my room earlier than usual—before 10 a.m. instead of the usual 3 p.m. check-in, which was a really nice touch.
The room itself, while a bit older, was very clean and comfortable, with fresh bedsheets and towels, which made all the difference. I slept soundly through the night. While the noise level may be an issue for light sleepers, I personally didn’t hear anything after 10 p.m. and woke up at 7:30 a.m. with complete silence.
Another bonus was the communal kitchen! It’s great for anyone wanting to heat up their own meals or even cook something simple. You only need to pay a small fee of 2€ for the gas can. The kitchen tools were a bit limited, so I’d recommend bringing your own utensils if you plan on cooking.
Overall, I had a fantastic stay and would definitely return. A big thank you to all the lovely ladies on the staff for their kindness and hospitality.
