Lekker ruim huis, gunstig gelegen ten opzichte van badplaatsen en achterland. Goede airco. Schoon!

De tweede badkamer is niet een volwaardige badkamer. Het is een toilet met een douche zonder douche scherm. Dit is wat onhandiger met 2 stellen. In de hoofd badkamer moet je douchen in het bad. Betaling via Booking.com of bij accommodatie was niet duidelijk. Ter plaatse alleen chat contact gehad met accommodatie. Overigens wel heel vriendwlijk contact. Achteraf zelf overgemaakt in overleg, omdat Booking.com en accomodatie allebei niet bleken te incasseren.

Beautiful villa, incredibly well-equipped and in a fantastic location. Really comfy beds and well set up with insect screens etc so you can open windows without letting bugs in. Absolutely perfect place for a family of four or two couples. The hosts were wonderful - sorting any little problem almost instantly. And they'd left the fridge nicely stocked with some welcome drinks and bits, ice and chilled beer glasses. Brilliant WiFi inside and out so you don't run up roaming costs. Fine for streaming. The pool is gorgeous and the set up with shade and furniture around it makes it tempting not to go anywhere! But this is a brilliant location from which to explore. Kalyves and Almyrida are right on your doorstep - Kalyves (fairly - see below) easily walkable at only 1km. And Chania is only half an hour away. We roamed a bit further afield to Heraklion (only worth it for the archaeology), Chania (beautiful), Rethymno (trinket-shoppers paradise) and Elafonisi (just don't bother!). Easy parking right outside the villa for your car (you need one). Beautiful scenery. All in, fantastic.

Really minor issues because this place is brilliant. There is some road noise as the villa is right on the road between Kalyves and Almyrida. It's not a lot of noise but it is noticeable. The windows do a great job of blocking it out but you do hear the cars when you're in the pool. Could do with a stand up shower. There are two handhelds, one over the (jacuzzi) bath upstairs and one in the downstairs loo. It's absolutely but if I was going to make upgrades, this is what I'd add. If you do want to watch TV (or put it on to keep kids quiet), take a Firestick or similar as the downstairs TV is notionally smart but a bit out of date and we couldn't make Netflix work on it. Not the villa's fault but the walk into Kalyves is trickier than it should be as you have to walk along the main road for the first stint and it can be a bit nerve-wracking, especially in the dark. I probably wouldn't do it with smaller kids and I'd drive down instead, even though it's only 1km on foot to the nicest bit of beach and bars/restaurants. But it's fine for adults/teens (though it's a steep climb on the way back). Don't let this put you off though. It's a wonderful place.

We rented Villa Gianna for our holiday and had a fantastic stay. The house is beautiful both inside and out, with a private pool, lovely outdoor areas, and mosquito screens on all doors and windows. Cleaning was done twice during our stay, and the pool was perfectly maintained. The kitchen was well equipped, and the barbecue made it easy to prepare meals at home. With a rental car, it’s just a short drive to great beaches and nice restaurants, and the air conditioning kept the house at a comfortable temperature at all times. Highly recommended.
