Senetan Villas and Spa Resort

This place is just awesome if you are looking for a traquil hotel away from the main routes where you can just chill, relax, meditate, read a book etc. It's a good spot for daily excursions to most sites in this part of Bali, e.g. Ubud or Mount Batur. The staff is super friendly, they help you with pretty much everything you need, from organizing a day trip to ironing board to a massage on site. The villas are surrounded by a wall of natural forest, it's simply amazing.

The rooms were bright and comfortable Really nice pool Amazing restaurant, the resort is in quite a remote location, but the quality of the food in the restaurant is really good. They have a free shuttle service to Ubud city, three times a day.

Sound travelled through the connecting rooms, so when the man 4 rooms down had his TV on we could easily hear it. The photos on the booking.com website are not really accurate, they need updating.

Breakfast was included, nice pool area, cosy villa, and helpful and friendly staff. The standard deluxe room was lovely - spacious, comfy, with all toiletries and necessities. Free shuttle 3x a day to Ubud is helpful, takes around 30mins. From there, it's easier to get a taxi, scooter, or car. I was happy to be upgraded after a night in a standard room. Deluxe rooms are right in front of the pool and dinning area-so would recommend those. Had a deep tissue massage that felt good, it's double the price, however, compared to some other places in Bali (it depends on the location). The kitchen is taking orders till 10 pm, which is handy; room service is available, food is delicious.

The location is good if you're looking for a relaxing, not active holiday, full of sightseeing. I had trouble ordering a taxi there; they often quoted a higher price than the app so I had to book a private driver to explore the nearby mountain area and waterfalls. To get to Ulun Danu temple, you have to go via Ubud, which adds 30 minutes to your ride, even though on maps it looks nearby. Decide what you want to see before coming because it's in a village, and except for shuttle or private ride/car hire, it's challenging to navigate around, especially for a solo traveller, which adds to the costs. The standard room bathroom is outdoors, and I didn't like the insects getting in and having to keep doors closed so they don't crawl into the bedroom. Small lizards are regular visitors in Bali accommodation, but we hadn't had this issue in Deluxe rooms, so recommend that one. No nearby shops, so it doesn't have that convenience; you need to plan in advance. I wish the pool were open longer than 6 pm, at least until 8 or 9, because there is nothing around to do, and it would feel relaxing, especially in the evening, after a long day of sightseeing. It'd be good to include chicken salami on the breakfast menu, instead of sausages only.
