We had a good stay away in a beautiful place.

Beautiful spot, which we hope to come back to and stay again.

The bed was a bit lumpy. There was a door into the main house on which the lock didn't work which meant the owners could walk into the property whilst I was having a shower, which made me feel a bit unsafe.

Location was great. Very comfy and goodies supplied (eggs and Milk) were very appreciated. Hosts very helpful and apologised for some of the heating not working (waiting for repairs).

Felt like staying on a country estate in a cute cottage near the big house!

The place was not only cozy and warm, but it had a comfortable living area as well as separate bedroom. The setting was almost otherworldly in beauty. To top it off, the location was walking distance to a wonderful family run pub. I would make sure the pub was open should we book again. I think it is open Th-Su.

If I was nitpicking, the water pressure could be higher. Not a big deal though.

Great place, quiet, beautiful gardens and trees and spotlessly clean and very comfortable too.

Walkers Retreat provides a wonderful space for some time out with everything we needed for our stay. The gardens are beautiful with quiet spots to enjoy the morning sun. The stars at night were amazing. It was a very relaxing place to stay

A perfect location for a varied holiday.

Wonderful location perfect for Dartmoor, and close enough to great beaches and Devon coastal path to enjoy a varied holiday. Perfect for rest days in a glorious garden too!

It was a bit small for 2 of us and 3 medium dogs but we managed and we are pleased that they accommodated us all as it’s hard to find somewhere that will allow 3 dogs, and the garden space more than made up for it!

Perfect

The grounds were amazing. Thank you for allowing Brody (our dog) to have the run of the field. The property was perfect for us and just what we wanted. It had everything you could need and more. The location was quiet and a short walk to the country pub and community shop that did amazing frozen meals (Thai green curry!!!). We will definitely be making this a regular holiday spot. Thank you for having us.

This is a wonderful base for exploring Dartmoor - brilliant to be within walking distance of the moors, lots of beautiful woods and the River Dart, with footpaths in all directions. The property has everything needed for a comfortable stay, plus amazing views from the windows and garden! Wish I could have stayed for longer!

Absolutely stunning views, huge comfortable bed! Beautifully clean and welcoming. Our little dog Lilly loved the huge garden/field. A great base to explore from and a fab pub just over the field

Exceptional Walkers Retreat

Walkers retreat is a real gem. The location is sublime . The garden a true delight with views to die for. Birdsong provided a wonderful soundscape creating a truly relaxing experience. The property itself provides everything one needs for a comfortable stay. Milk and eggs were waiting for us in the fridge, which was a thoughtful gesture by the hosts. The bed, a giant comfortable mattress with the softest pillows and quality bedlinen. Fluffy towels too.. It was lovely and clean, fresh and inviting. It also provides the perfect base from which to explore Dartmoor and the South Hams. Holne is a delight too with a great little community shop and Pub ( although this is only open from Thursday through to Sunday). Samantha and Alex are the perfect hosts. Samantha was warm and welcoming and very discreet. The apartment is attached to their home but at no point did we feel as if we were intruding on their personal space and truly felt as if we were the only ones there most of the time.

Nothing to dislike at all....our only disappointment was the pub not being open during our stay ! However, the community shop did have some rather splendid Dartmoor Ales to compensate.

Another wonderful break on Dartmoor.

This was our third visit to the Walkers Retreat, and we'll be back! Very comfortable, and quiet. Good facilities. Easy to get onto Dartmoor for lovely walking on the 3 sunny days we had; and a great place to retreat to on the one wet day!

Samantha and Alex have made this a fantastic place to stay. When we arrived it was warm and welcoming, eggs and milk waiting for us. Amazing views from the dining table. The bed is huge and so comfortable. This was our second visit, can’t wait to come again!

Very clean place, well equipped and very comfortable. Lovely views and very friendly and responsive host. Good wifi and lots of recommendations for places to walk, eat etc. We had horrible weather for some of our stay and Samantha recommended some great indoor things to do in rainy days.

We arrived in the dark and it was a bit hard to find but it was completely my fault. Samantha had given us very clear instructions, but there was absolutely no reception in the area, and couldn't access the app to read. Also the bed was a bit too soft for me, I like a very firm matress, but it was very comfortable according to my daughter :)

Walkers retreat is absolutely beautiful. The facilities are perfect. You feel very relaxed . The gardens are beautiful. It is very peaceful all you can hear are the birds and the occasional moo, baa or neah. There were fresh eggs and milk waiting for us in the fridge which was a nice surprise and there is plenty of washing up liquid,washing powder, soap , shampoo and shower gel. I would highly recommend this little haven

Everything. It was very clean and had all the necessary facilities and more, especially in the kitchen and the bathroom. Location is amazing, in a small, quiet village and right in the heart of the national park and on the edge of the moors themselves so you can go walking straight from the front door, with plenty of other walking options within a 15-20 minute drive.

Very cosy and comfortable bed , everything you need from utensils to books . Lovely walks , tearoom down rd , pub five minutes,everyone we met was really friendly.
