La Casa de Zarela

I stayed at La Casa de Zarela for five nights and felt genuinely comfortable throughout. The room was cleaned every day, cozy and enough space for arranging my stuff. The WiFi was super fast so I could even work when I needed to. I especially loved the common areas: relaxed outdoor sitting spots where you can unwind after an exhausting day of hiking. The true standout is Zarela herself. She is a warm and attentive host who helped me plan all of my tours and hikes with patience and local expertise — always available when you needed her. She also offers flexible breakfast solutions, when you start your hike very early. The Thai restaurant on-site is a pleasant surprise, the Pad Thai is delicious and not something you’d expect to find in Huaraz. What’s also worth mentioning is that they are very accommodating when it comes to dietary needs, whether you have food intolerances or follow a vegetarian diet, you’ll be well taken care of here. If you’re spending time in Huaraz, La Casa de Zarela is a great choice and I totally recommend it.

The hotel was clean and nice, the staff was friendly and very helpful getting a taxi to the airport. Nice showers after a long hike, good coffee or tea in the morning even if the breakfast wasn't available yet.

The doors were very thin and in the morning you could hear loudly other people getting ready. Also we had a friend stop by that had hiked with us and it was an extra 30 soles to have him take a shower in our room before he took a bus to Lima.

The hospitality, the flexibililty and the help we got to arrange trips. Just a very comfortable place to stay on walking distance from the center.

Lovely stay in La Casa de Zarela - where Zarela will host you with all her experience from travelling around the world (she knows what you need as a traveler) and gives you a feeling of coming home because of her heartful behaviour. Our experience in the shoulder season: +Early check-in after arriving with night bus. +Organizing a lot of the tours by contacting the agency and a taxi driver directly by her via the phone. +Giving recommendations for activities (daily or multiple days). +Spontaneous one night longer - we were in shoulder season but she was very flexible concerning our stay. ++Lovely talks with her in the evening with a delicious cup of tea.

Sadly, she was renovating the kitchen, so we couldn't try the Thai food.
