Lumin Guest House

The location is perfect, it is right on the Main Street, in the middle of the city (entrance is on the small street behind). You can get to the room without climbing any stairs other than the ones inside the building from the Pile or Ploce gates. The walls are two foot thick stone and they have double pane windows, so the noise of the city is almost completely gone unless you choose to open the windows.

This was an excellent stay in the centre of the old town Dubrovnik. The location is perfect to explore and close to everything you need. We felt the stay was excellent value for money too. Nicholas who checked us in too was great, clear communication and gave us a space to leave our bags on check out as we had a late flight.

Not a dislike at all as our room was made up on our second day but having a do not disturb sign or no need to clean up would’ve been helpful as we didn’t necessarily need the room cleaned could’ve saved housekeeping some time!

The room was very nice and the location, overlooking the main street Stradun, was outstanding. The owner was very helpful and easily contactable.

There seemed to be some trick to turning the lights in the stairwell on in the upper floors that I never discovered, so I always carried a flashlight during the evening. The staff seemed to have no problem, just me, and the lights on the bottom floor stairwell always turned on when I got near.

The location of this hotel is fantastic, it's right in the heart of Dubrovnik's old town, making it easy to explore everything on foot. The bed was comfortable and the room came with all the amenities we needed. It's soundproof too.

Unfortunately, our stay was significantly affected by an air conditioning breakdown that happened the night before we arrived. The heat in the room became unbearable, even with a fan running, and with a small child in tow, it made for some very difficult nights of sleep. To their credit, the staff worked around the clock trying to fix the issue, but ultimately weren't able to resolve it during our stay. We did receive a 50% refund, which was appreciated. That said, we wish the situation had been handled a bit differently. We were repeatedly told the AC was about to be fixed, so we held off on looking elsewhere but in hindsight, there were other rooms available nearby that we could have booked last minute. We would have preferred the staff be upfront that the issue might not get resolved, so we could make an informed decision and rebook if needed.
