It’s a secluded hotel, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Staying at Hotel Fuki no Mori is like having a detox of mind and body; it’s like going into a mountain retreat! Having spring water as the main water for drinking (and bathing) is an unexpected bonus! The staff are very helpful and the food are delicious!

Everything was great! Allowed tattoos(tasteful) in the Onsen and Rotenburo. Food was a million small courses of stuff I've never tried so if your picky this might be the only negative.

The staff was friendly and the outdoor onsen was a nice touch
The place needs a lot of upgrading. Everything from the walls to the hallways to the furniture in the room had a low quality hotel/motel vibe: shipped paint, stains, peeling wallpaper. It is not well taken care of. We had many bugs in our room! Most of the staff were non-Japanese which is convenient for non-Japanese speakers, but it also took away from an authentic Japanese experience. The meal service was not great - presentation was nice but the dinner elements were mostly pickled items which I assume is budget friendly because they store easily.
