Villa Fania

The hosts were excellent, communicative, polite and helpful. It was clean all around. We were only two so we booked a room which was fine, quiet and with the terrace with nice view to the lake. We’re hoping to get there again with whole family and book an apartment which is significantly bigger, has new and excellent equipment and includes the kitchen and big terrace with really great view. Great place for really have rest on the vacation. It’s important to have a car, though, because it’s around a 300m highway from the main street and a little (6-7km) far from the city. Yet nice beaches are actually on many places on the lake, both north and south from this place and if you have a car there, it can be maybe the best place to be. The city is on the north side of lake and on the south you find maybe the best beaches and other tourist and historical places, so this place is somewhere in the middle (nearer to the city though), while having one nice small beach nearby. It takes less than 10 minutes to get to the city centre by car and there is also the bus stop, 6-7min from this villa, buses ride in both directions, in approximately an hour, so check the schedule first. Ohrid town is very beautiful with rich history and many monuments, laying in beautiful nature on the lake coast. Whole Lake of Ohrid has plenty of lovely beaches and lots of activities one can have there, starting from various boat trips, water sports and so on. We certainly hope to be there again!

All was fine!

The hosts were amazing - so friendly and welcoming! The property is very well maintained, super clean, as well as very peaceful and quiet. Short walk to shops, restaurants and beaches. Terrific views also! All in all, we had a fantastic stay and I would definitely recommend it!

Everything was great!

Loved our stay at Villa Fania and Ohrid lake. Apartmalent is spacious and clean, we really enyojed morning coffee and evening sunsets on the balcony with amazing view over the lake. Super nice and helpful host. Great location - we explored the both sides of the lake, including the albanian side. Parking avalaible on the street, there was always space in front or near apartment, 2 minutes walk away.

One of my best stays in the Balkans. I visited Ohrid for the second time, after my first visit in 2009, the city has changed a lot for the better. However, this time I wanted to avoid the wild crowds in Ohrid during the peak tourist season and found Villa Fania and its wonderful hosts. Irena and her son Ilia's house is located in a quiet area of Dolno Konjsko, which is about 15min ride from the center of Ohrid. To get to Villa Fania you need like ten-minute walk uphill from the nearest bus station, but this is made up for by the fantastic sea-like view of the lake from the terraces and balconies of the house. For me the location was surefire. Moreover, I felt as if I had become a member of the family. The permanent residents of the house - grandparents Veselika and Velko, same as Irena and Ilya - spoiled me with foods, coffee and great stories and useful tips. The hosts picked me up from the bus station and then at the end of my stay drove me to the airport. Each day they wanted to make sure I didn't need anything. I had a great time there and the location is good for day trips, to Ohrid, Struga, the Bay of Bones or the Albanian side of the lake. There is a convenient supermarket and some nice restaurants with the local food on the other side of Dolno Konjsko. And if you do not want the city buzz, 10 min. down the hill is a great beach, where you can rent a kayak or you can walk almost all the way along the shore even as far as Peshtani. The sunsets over Ohrid at this time are mesmerizing. The room was very spacious, tidy and with a spectacular view from the balcony. It turned out that I was the first international visitor, as they were reopened after the pandemic situation in 2019/20. The place is really to be recommended and the hosts were available to me at any time, even though Irena, Ilya and Goran's brother-in-law, who I also found very nice to talk to, live further away from Villa Fania. I really recommend and will definitely be back.
