Worst scammy hostel ever. If you wish to have the worst time of your life, then this is the place.

Probably only the free coffee and tea.

Everything. Hostel helped me book a bus from Ohrid to Tirana that departs at 8am. Was instructed to be at the location 5-10 minutes earlier. I complied - was there at the location at 7:45am. At around 8:12am the hostel texted me saying I was not there and the bus allegedly stopped and concluded I wasn't there before leaving at 8am. However, since the time I was there at 7:45am, no single bus or van stopped. Only 2-3 cars that stopped to drop off passengers. There is simply also no way to miss me as I am the most foreign looking person ever with a huge backpacking backpack. When I told the hostel, they simply absconded blame saying it was the bus company's fault and to not write a negative review for the hostel. I've solo-travelled to more than 30 countries and stayed at 40+ hostels and never encountered such an issue. This is by far the worst hostel ever. In addition to other issues, mostly unwelcoming staff: - When asked about activities, staff said 'ask them urself" - When I said the room was freezing, and the heater appeared to not be working as well (there was only a slight air that came out), a volunteer simply said "I can give you more blankets". Thanks for treating the symptoms and not the cause. - Volunteers are constantly watching TV and lounging and seem pretty annoyed when you ask them for help. I was given the wrong information too. Was given instructions to a bus stop (separate bus) but was led to a different one. Said volunteer asked me to turn right rather than left. Ended up almost missing the bus that only comes every 3h. I must confess that someone previously recommended this hostel to me due to how helpful and friendly the staff are. But said someone came in the summer and maybe they're more proactive or they were in a better mood. I'm here in the winter and they simply dgaf. But if I were you, I wouldn't come here.

A nice place to stay and meet people for a few days in Ohrid

Big single bed was a nice change from bunks. It was a walkable distance to town and the lake, with good grocery stores nearby. The staff were helpful and friendly

Perfect place for a stay in Ohrid

Amazing place. Close to the lake and the city center but in a quiet street. Well equipped kitchen, fast WiFi. Cozy indoor common room with table, sofas, books and TV, several small outdoor tables on several floors. Staff was so helpful with every issue in the hostel, about activities in the city and for advice about further on travel. Great atmosphere, easy to get in contact to other guests

Stay here!

The hostel had a social friendly atmosphere especially the volunteers Brittney and David who were so sweet, friendly, and just the absolute best. The owners Vesna and Nino were welcoming and always available for questions or recommendations, and offered some of their dinner, rakija, and ice cream. Such a sweet environment and close to the lake!

The best hostel in Ohrid, the most welcoming hosts, fantastic location to explore Ohrid

We loved staying here! Vesna and Nino were so welcoming and kind. The best hospitality we've ever had in a hostel. Had plenty of recommendations for us and were always keen for a chat, even offered to cook for us. Our room had air conditioning and was very comfortable, and right next to the shared bathroom which was nice and clean. It's in a pleasant neighbourhood and just a short walk to the gorgeous lakefront. Would love to visit again one day!

Great hosts, great energy and very nice atmosphere overall. Very good location. The sports complex Biljanini izvori (football, tennis) is very close, so if you are coming for sports related events, Blue Hostel is a a very good option, at a reasonable price.

This is not a negative remark, but more of a reminder for others looking to book at this place. This is still a hostel, so you should expect beforehand that you will share a room with 2 or 3 other persons, and there are other shared facilities.

LOVE LOVE LOVE

I am obsessed with this place! Not only is Orhid lake magnificent, but this hostel feels like home. So comfy, accommodating & friendly. They have extra blankets, beach and shower towels. The bathroom in all women’s suit was stocked with extra toiletries & curling iron! There are multiple hammocks to lounge in, full kitchen, ping pong table & couches to chill. Memory foam bed was so comfy! Really would love to come back!

Best Hostel staff ever!

The staff are the kindest, friendliest, most helpful staff you'll ever encounter :) Beds are comfortable, rooms spacious, we stayed in the twin private for 3 nights and dorm for 1 night - single beds in the dorm which are nice and saw the staff clean and spray the matresses everytime a bed is turned over. Bathrooms are super clean, and we did the wine tour to a local winery which i highly recommend for 25 euro.

Maybe some air freshener or spray in the bathrooms would have been a nice touch, apart from that a fantastic stay!!

Found new friends and family at an amazing UNESCO site surrounded by natural beauty.

The owners, Vesne and Nino, put so much love into their hostel. They know every visitor's name. They happily share detailed information about things to do. They call for cabs. I have traveled to over 15 countries in 18 months and these two are the very best hostel, hotel, or AirB&B operators I have ever encountered.

I would have preferred a firmer mattress. Other than that, zero complaints.

Great people, great food, and a very historical and fun-filled town.

The owners were excellent the location was perfectly located by several bars and restaurants with a two minute walk to the lake. Depending on where you want to go it's about five or ten minutes to Old Town.

The hostel itself was brilliant. The weather was in and out while I was there, but not much to do about that. The summer here is lovely pretty much everyday.

I had an amazing stay at Blue Lake Hostel in Ohrid! Vesna and Nino were absolutely wonderful hosts – incredibly kind, welcoming, and always ready to help. They made me feel right at home. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly, and I truly enjoyed every moment of my stay. A special thanks also to Will, a fellow guest, who kindly helped me with the check-in when the hosts were away. Everything went smoothly, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Highly recommended!

Blue lake is a total gem. First off all ,its cleaner than my apartment, and thats saying something. The staff are super friendly-like " remember your name and actually care how your day was, offer you free drink, even homemade food",friendly. The location is spot-on too, close enough to everything. The beds are so comfy that I will miss my check out twice, and on the top its so affordable , so your wallet wont cry. Nino and Vesna Im not leaving tomorrow either 😁

Very friendly hosts and helpful. Organised a taxi for a winery for me and some other guests. Made good recommendations for food and drink. I met some cool people staying here.

Clean cheap bed. And the best service in all of Balkan. In the heart of the hidden gem that is Ohrid

This is the best hostel I've been to. The facilities were clean and worked as they should. There was free ice cream (rainbow) in the freezer and free coffee on the kitchen counter. Location wise, Blue Lake Hostel is great as well. It's a 3 minute walk from the beautiful water. A 15 minute walk from the city center. And a 30 minute walk from the old fortress overlooking the city. Which means that you can walk anywhere you'll want to go in the city and its surrounding areas. If you want to go further (to the national park atop the mountain ridge for instance, or maybe some paragliding? Or if you want to visit some of the other cities around Lake Ohrid), the couple who runs the place are always eager to help. Nino & Vesna will hook you up with the good taxi companies, they'll give you directions to the traditional restaturants, and they always know when and where the many festivities of Ohrid goes down. You get the sense that they truly want you to have a good time in Ohrid. And that they'll do whatever they can to make it so. And it definitely paid off for me. I'll be back for sure.

AMAZING

We had a lovely time at Blue Lake! We extended our stay because we fell in love with Ohrid so much and were so comfortable in our room! The owners are so lovely and accomodating, always smiling and easy to chat to. They are both so helpful with providing recommendations on what to do, where to go and eat etc. They always said hello when we saw them around town/at the hostel and checked in with us regularly about how we were going and if there was anything they could do to help. Absolutely lovely people! The location of this property is incredible as it's super close to the main parts of Ohrid. The hostel is very comfy and clean, with a large common room area and heaps of balcony space that is used for socialising. Ohrid is a wonderful town that is super walkable and this hostel is in the perfect location for everything. We can't recommend staying here enough!

For me, the quality of hostels is mostly about the overall atmosphere and personality of the owners. Nino and Vesna are a couple of very friendly, talkative, and helpful people. We were also lucky enough to spend some time with them with a glass of beer & wine. They put hard work in the hostel and make feel everyone welcome. Děkujeme moc, snad někdy příště!
