Game Fish Lodge

The place is owned and operated by a lovely English-South African couple. Always a good sign when the owner operates a property themselves. They were super helpful and friendly, and probably the main reason visitors enjoy this place so much. The lodge is on a hill with views to the sea, and an amazing breakfast (10 out of 10) is served by the beach. The small pool is nice for a quick refreshing dip, and you can swim also in the sea close by. My room was very comfortable (the bed a bit hard but that's often an issue for me) and clean.

it's good to understand that this is a "lodge" indeed, not a luxury hotel. Some details show that the place is over 20 years old, but those didn't affect my stay. The closest tourist area is about 30-minute walk away, and walking on the streets felt completely safe, even in the dark. If you want to be close to bars, restaurants, shops and the best beaches in the area, you may want to look other options as well. Game Fish Lodge is a great choice if you are looking for a good value and calmer area, and don't mind strong winds either.

We chose this property as it was in an excellent location but a little bit away from the busy 5* resorts. The view from our room was absolutely amazing. We could watch the sunrise from our balcony which was stunning , we also loved that as this was a tidal resort the sea would disappear which was very pretty then return in the afternoon. Colin and Lesley were extremely informative and very welcoming ,I would take their recommendations rather than pre booking trips.

The property is peaceful and relaxing, making it a good choice if you enjoy quiet places (so quiet). The room was comfortable and the sea view is beautiful. there are two very active dogs. If you like dogs, you’ll probably enjoy them.

The biggest issue was the internet .The Wi-Fi was unavailable most of the time ,The owners mentioned it was due to a temporary issue, but I stayed at two other hotels before and after this one in Zanzibar without any internet problems. There is also almost no mobile network coverage inside the property, so if the Wi-Fi isn’t working, you’ll basically be offline. The beach directly in front of the property is rocky, making it difficult to swim . Also, the property is run only by the owners, so there isn’t dedicated staff available.
