Top stay at Punawai Homestay. The hosts (a couple) are Super friendly and welcoming. Accomodation is great and spacious. The home-made breakfast is an extra plus. Absolutely recommended for your stay at Taupo !

A quiet, modern building in the outskirts of Taupo. The homestay provided two large rooms just for us - a bedroom and a sitting room with some spectacular views. Breakfast was muesli, muffins, bread/toast, orange juice, tea (plus milk), and bananas. A great way to start the day. Our hosts were super friendly, offering advice when asked, but also happy to leave us alone. They did some washing for us, which was great.
Not a lot! Note that the place is a 45 minute walk away from downtown. Payment had to be in cash, or a NZ debit card.
