Our fourth visit and continues to be a super location with comfortable accommodation.
By comparing to a similar self-catering farm cottage near Montagu the cost of the Matjiesvlei cottage is 48.8% higher. I would have to reconsider if affordable for us as pensioners for possible future stays.

We know this hidden valley very well, so "Location" was chosen for its superb isolation on a working farm. The house had everything you could expect, and all pre-booking and arrival info and support was excellent. The house oozes country character, backed by the stupendous views of the Swartberg range. The large, shaded back stoep (patio) with its day bed and dining table and chairs was wonderful, as was the large indoor fireplace in the lounge. The kitchen facilities were wonderful. We stayed 2 nights and wish it could have been longer. This is the first of the many places we have stayed that had fitted (mosquito) netting on every window, which also acted as security (from inquisitive wildlife and other). We were very impressed, and for once we could sleep with open windows, secure in every way. Should one need to stock up with more provisions, Calitzdorp is a scenic 30-minute drive away.
There's nothing we didn't like that we can think of. Even at its busiest, the valley doesn't have many people, and that, for us, was and always is the beauty of it. General comment: establishments tend to over-provide on warm duvets but not lighter comforters for warmer nights.

Beautiful location and very comfortable. Perfect for a group of friends or family members to gather for a few days!
It’s 7 km off the tar road. Signage can be confusing… when you get to the 4 km mark you’ll see a stone marker… continue to the right of the marker for another 3 kms. Enjoy your stay: )
