There is hardly any better stay for one or several nights in and around Oudtshoorn than at De Kombuys. So friendly. So cosy, so relaxing. With perfect Wagyu meat and own vine. We tried the Chardonnay 2002 and the Shiraz with the Wagyu prime steak. Feels like home when you are from South England, the Benelux or the north of France, since the architecture of the Dutch Farm house looks famliliar. Maybe those creating the Farm in 1814 where flemish?!

Where do I start - we stayed here for 2 nights in the hope of getting some R&R time as we travelled the garden route, and this is exactly what we got! Perfect stay from start to finish!
Location: The property is situated about 30mins away from Oudtshoorn. It was handy to drive to pick up some essentials on the second day, but would suggest people head there en-route given there’s a fridge and small kitchen in the chalet we stayed in.
Property: We had the Shiraz chalet for the 2 of us and it was spacious, clean and the little plunge pool was a delight! Incredible views over the Shiraz vineyard and mountain range in the distance!
Staff: From the moment we arrived the staff did their upmost to help us enjoy our stay. A big thankyou to them all for their hospitality!
Food: we ate at the onsite restaurant on the first night and had their 5 course tasting meal which was delicious - some of the best steak we’ve had! Enjoyed with a bottle of their Shiraz (grapes growing opposite our chalet!) Breakfast each morning was equally as delicious. On the second night we had a braai set up in our chalet grounds and ordered some meat and salads. It was a lovely way to enjoy an evening cooking ourselves!
The attention to detail is unmatched, from fresh flowers in the room to the service. I would 100% recommend anyone to stay!

Good location between Oudsthoorn and Prince Albert. Great location should you plan to visit the nearby Cango Caves. Lovely scenery.
Although the unit photos is a fair representation of the unit, we felt our unit was on the tired side. Scuffed and peeling wall paint, cheap furniture and a general lacklustre feeling about it. The plunge pool and lawn outside was rather unappealing too. Considering the nightly rate of the units and comparing it with similar properties we have stayed in the Klein Karoo, De Kombuys is over rated and over priced. We could not wait to leave.
