Quinta Casa de São Miguel is a historic manor house situated in the middle of a huge property with vineyards, olive trees, and fruit trees. The house is located off the main road in a small hamlet with only a few houses. Most of the houses look abandoned and uninhabited. It's important to know, when booking Quinta Casa de São Miguel, that there is nothing nearby. There is no café, no grocery store, and no restaurant in the village. The nearest restaurant is about 1 km away on the main road, and other restaurants are about 2.5 km away in Armamar. There is also a small grocery store in Armamar. The old manor house is very beautiful, covered in wild vines, and looks romantic. The property has trees and a small romantic pond with benches and a fantastic swimming pool with a great view over the vineyards towards the Douro River. The rooms are not particularly large, but adequate, and the bed is very comfortable. The bathroom is adequately equipped with a shower, toilet, and sink and has a skylight. A negative aspect is the lighting in the rooms. The Quinta is oriented so that the rooms face north and only have very small windows, making the rooms very dark. The rooms do not have balconies, so you can't spend time in them during the day. There is a communal loggia, but this also faces north and offers no privacy, which is a real shame. Breakfast is served as a buffet on the ground floor and is very plentiful, and Emilia, the good spirit of the house, really makes an effort to fulfill every additional food request. For excursions into the Douro Valley, you always have to factor in very long, extremely winding drives. We visited Peso da Régua, Armamar, Pinhão, and Lamego, and each time we were glad to have safely navigated the winding roads. Conclusion: If you like staying in historic buildings, if you don't mind small, dark rooms without a balcony, and if you appreciate peace and solitude, then Quinta Casa de São Miguel is definitely the right place for you.

The property was beautiful and so peaceful. My family loved walking around the vineyards and sitting on the large patio area in the mornings with coffee. My two year old loved exploring and had so much fun. It was a quick scenic 20 min drive to Peso da Regua and 35 min to Pinhao. The staff was very helpful, friendly when we arrived and accommodating when our arrival time changed.
The kitchen was missing a few basics, a spatula and a filter coffee maker, though it did have a Krups pod coffee maker, we just didn’t bring any. We had different alternatives so it didn’t effect us much. Other than that, everything was wonderful.

Didn't meet Adelaida as she was away. The apartemnt was clean and a good size and had everything we needed - set in a beautiful vineyard with a nice clean pool. Furniture all a bit old and basic but all fully functional. They could probably invest in better sun loungers and chairs/ tables for the outdoor area. my daughter sat on a lounger and it collapsed under her! Which was obviously entertaining. Two folding fabric camping chairs to sit on seemed a bit basic for the price we were paying...
beds were very uncomfortable unfortunately and the air conditioning was broken which was bad timing as during the heatwave this made sleeping difficult!
