We thoroughly enjoyed staying in the apartment in this grand building. It had everything we needed for our 2-day winter stopover in Ypres. We particularly liked the historic feel of the place and the views over the snow-covered garden. Great location close to the centre of town and an easy walk to the Menin Gate. Valerie and Peter were great hosts. We met them on arrival and Peter showed us around and explained the history of the house.

Location, character, cleanliness, facilities, decor, furniture, beds. Just about everything.
The stairs were a bit of a challenge but added to the character of the apartment I guess!

The apartment is in the oldest original building in Ypres. It is a pretty building and the interior of the apartment is tastefully decorated. Everything you need is provided. The location is perfect for checking out the town and getting to the Menin Gate ceremony.

Found easy 2hr parking close to apartment which is set above a great little Giftware/Café with courtyard. Access to rooms are made easy with a basic lift, due to the 17th/18th century classic staircase would make it a challenge. Heaps of old world character with uneven floors that have the ageing creeks as you walks around the apartment. (My granddaughter found this a bit of a challenge to sleep with the noise) Fantastic position to all the main tourist attraction's with safe and easy walking. Also just a short walk to free parking along classic streets with amazing things to find in the nick knack shops. Very roomy and classic original windows for open air feeling.
Sadly the hot water jug was unusable to major scale build up.

Perfect location, easy access to just about everything. Nice and quiet bedroom, no sound whatsoever. And the flat is exactly as described and seen in the pictures. Recommended!

This was a beautiful and historic apartment. Fantastically situated. I met with the very helpful and gracious host. They had left lots of wonderful welcoming delights too!
The stairs are steep and narrow. That's quirky and interesting but may discourage some.
There was a lift but I didn't check to see if it worked!

The history of the building shone through. The gorgeous window seat and excellent location. This is a superb place to stay. Make sure to speak to Peter about the history of this building. There is also a lift for accessibility and close to train station for days out.

Parking - free parking areas are located within a short walk from the hotel. Immediately outside there’s ample parking for short durations. The owner kindly supplies a parking display badge that permits two hours free stay. The hotel is ideally located a few hundred yards from the main town square. An evening walk leads you through the towns history, taking in the many memorials to the fallen of WW1. Saturday morning brings the local farmers and stall holders to the town square where you can sample the many cheeses and feast like a king on the roasted meats. You won’t go hungry!
The hotel has a rustic charm, beautiful and welcoming. You can choose to unwind in the garden, or as I did, sit at the window with a cup of tea, listening to the quiet chorus of the morning. Absolute bliss, no town traffic or loud music to be heard.
There was nothing to dislike. Belgium is such a clean place, no litter, such a quieter pace of life. If you want a short break, with time to just watch the world go by, Ypres and the surrounding countryside has it all. About the hotel, and it’s not a criticism, just a note of warning for anyone with any physical impairment. The hotel has a lift to some levels, as the stairs can be rather short and steep.

A warm welcome from the host, the apartment, garden are relaxing and peaceful. Comfortable bed, nice homely touches, clean, feels effortless
The kitchen worktop is a little too high, but only using a short while so not really an issue.

Stayed in the apartment for 4 nights in June, and loved every minute. The apartment had plenty of space for the family, and everything we needed to cook etc in the kitchen. Wifi and smart TV were great too for a bit of down time. The apartment was on a beautiful corner, so had lovely views of the pretty street. Hosts were very friendly and communication was great. Apartment is a short walk to the main square, and about 10 mins walk (if not less) to the Menin Gate. Therefore perfect location of being in the centre, but there was no noise etc. Apartment has use of a beautiful private garden also, which was particularly nice to sit out in in the evening. Would definitely recommend and hope to return.
Not a criticism, but we were glad of the fan provided as the weather had been quite hot (at least for us). I'd maybe suggest providing a second fan, so that there can be one for each bedroom if the weather is hot in Summer.

The property is the oldest in Ypres and has been standing since world war 1, there is so much character and very spacious and comfortable.
I liked everything about it. It’s not a negative but we were travelling with a small child so we had to use the lift and carry her/ pram down the stairs. However we still had a brilliant stay

Lovely hosts, nothing was too much trouble, quite close to the main Square. Would definitely stay again.
Whole building steeped in history and was one of the few houses that was not completely destroyed during the First World War.
No complaints.

Apartment was charming and quirky with a traditional Belgian feel. The bathroom shower was great and super clean, and the beds were really cosy with crisp sheets. It was tastefully decorated, and there were a lot of cat ornaments everywhere which have a cultural link to the area. The host was very responsive when we couldn't work the TV and was friendly. He kindly left us a bottle of wine and Belgian chocs.
The location is very good, located about 8 minute walk to larger supermarkets like Aldi and Delhaize. And 7
6-7 minute walk from Menin Gate. For cemeteries and most museums you will need a car. Lots of restaurants on your doorstep and smaller convenience supermarkets within 2-3 minutes walk.
It was very dusty, it set off allergies which we don't normally have. Dirty utensils in the drawers with dried food.
Internet was strong in the bedroom, but not in the living area, tv didn't work well as result.
Bathroom doors don't shut well.

It is a really stunning apartment in one of the oldest buildings in Ypres. The location is superb, it is a 5 minute walk from the Cloth Hall, a 10 minute walk from the Menin Gate and a 10 minute walk from the station. The apartment is comfortable and well equipped and feels like a home. A lovely touch from the owners leaving wine and chocolates.
Nothing, it is a fantastic place to stay

If I could give this place more stars, I would! It was a perfect experience: one night, I slept almost 10 hours. Kids' space was comfy, the tea, coffee, and milk were thoughtful, and the wifi strong. Loved the springtime sunshine in our corner room

We arrived early, and on contacting the owner, he allowed us to check in early. The apartment was spacious and well equipped with all we needed for our stay. Situated in the town, close to shops and sites. The apartment is in a very historic building and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Many thanks to Valary and Peter.

Very elegant and charming apartment, close to the city centre. Peter was very helpful and hospitable, and explained the history of the house to us. There was also a dry, secure area to store our bicycles. We would love to come back again!
Parking was limited, though Peter was very helpful in explaining how to deal with the on-street parking by means of a time-limited permit and also about how to park longer-term nearby elsewhere.

The apartment is spacious and is in a great central location in a historic building. It had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and we appreciated that there were some English channels to watch. we had the corner apartment and it was light filled and had nice view of the street.
