Although confusion with the room, we got a slightly larger room, no issue was made - so happy.

Convenient for the town. Opposite car parking. Comfy bed. Large bath towels. Good shower.

Confusing entrance. Very poor lighting in rooms. Poor information and communication. One of our rooms had a non working TV and heater and it took 2 days to sort this (moved daughter to another room). We were only there for 3 days! Staff did not address the problems and everything seemed to have to defer to the manager. He was very pleasant but ineffective. Seemed that training was lacking.

The hotel is in the very centre of town.

I was offered a room facing the main street. The window was so old that I could hear people walking outside. I paid an extra one third of my bill to move rooms.

Lovely stay in Colchester

The staff were all good and very friendly. The location is very good and the meal we had on Sunday was excellent - no wonder it was fully booked on Saturday.

My partner has a gluten and dairy intolerance and her breakfast options were limited

An average stay, but meets expectations for the price

A good price for an easy one night stay, room was easy and comfortable enough.

We turned our radiator on high whist out in the evening to have a warm room as it was naturally very cold, but came back to a freezing room as radiator didnt work. We couldn’t speak to staff as it was too late ( we stayed new years evening) and had to sleep in all clothes layers and use the towels as blankets.. it was freezing! So wasn’t the most comfortable and pleasant. Room could do with some general tlc and touch ups, ie. There was this massive brown stain across the ceiling in the bathroom and mold spots in shower

The room with beams was stunning, staff very helpful and engaging. Restuarant food was excellent! Different to anything I have eaten before.

Lack of dedicated parking is a small nuisance but a main carpark is nearby.

Lovely hotel, great location in the centre of Colchester. Very good value for money. We had a small room, but all we needed for a 2 night visit to Colchester. Comfy bed, good quality bed linen and towels. Warm welcome and friendly staff

Noisy no double glazing no carpark as stated when booked which I address after which they didn't get back to me on So another £17 on top to pay per night Messed about for checking Three members of staff addressed us before finally getting checked in not impressed and wouldn't stay here again

A clean, safe and good value Colchester spot for one or a few nights.

This is a great value alternative for Colchester. I came to the Colchester Fringe Festival launch and enjoyed the bar, which had a good selection of wine. There is no elevator to the upper levels, so be mindful. The room was clean and did the job. They even had earplugs for light sleepers as the street outside can be lively.

Breakfast service was not of hotel standard, but it also did the job. You get to pick from a few menu items, and a serving of coffee/tea is included in the price. Breakfast is served in the bar area; I never had a chance to use the restaurant associated with it. There are quality eateries in the area, so no problem finding dinner options.

Comfortable but disappointing. Avoid.

The hotel is in a convenient location, close to town + its amenities. The room itself was comfortable and I must admit I did have a good night sleep + bathroom was a good size. For 1 night the hotel was sufficient however more than 1 night I would look elsewhere.

The breakfast, whilst sufficient, ended up being ruined when I cut into my 2nd egg and out floated in the runny yolk was a fly which left me feeling incredibly sick and actually ruined the entire meal. Despite me messaging about this to make a complaint, the staff have simply diminished this as an “inconvenience” when quite frankly it is a little bit more than that especially when I paid for breakfast to be included in the hotels cost. I would have addressed this at breakfast however there was a guest eating at the same time and I could not in good conscience bring it up and potentially ruin someone else’s breakfast. Quite frankly I would not feel like I am able to consider future stays in this property + I would not even eat in the attached restaurant. Had the staff not diminished my complaint, I may have felt different about it. But it does not seem to be how the situation is turning out.

Paper Thin Walls

Booked the mini suite which is really nice for the price. Comfortable bed, good staff and a decent breakfast as well.

Sound insulation is very poor and sadly a noisy couple below our room woke us up and antics and overly loud voices made it feel like they were in the room with us.

Good value hotel, comfy room, centrally located, attentive staff.

Great location, very central, easy access to the main attractions and shopping districts. The hotel had a very good pan-Asian restaurant on site.

The room looked out on a main road. Early morning trash pickup and an idling truck below the room's window woke me up. For the price, I can't complain. I'd request a room not facing the street if I were to stay there again.

The location and the room was clean

The shower doors were faulty causing the shower water to cover the bathroom floor There were no USB charging points, which for 2025 we found unusual The bar was closed when we returned at 22:15

Personally I didn’t like that type of breakfast, without choice of hot drinks or water offered. We still had a great stay. I just would recommend to not to get breakfast there. It would not stop me from booking that hotel again.

Excellent hotel and fantastic value

The bed was incredibly comfortable, there was a lot of space inside the room itself too. The shower had great pressure and consistent heat. Also the lady with the shorter hair working reception was really very lovely and helpful

The little lamps either side of the bed did not work, and the plug in the bathroom sink drain was a little broken. These are literally the only issues

Great location and the staff were incredibly helpful.

The hotel staffs are very friendly and enthusiastic. The breakfast provided by the hotel is convenient and delicious. The coffee provided is refillable and delicious. The hotel is located in the heart of Colchester, with convenient transportation and shopping.

We stayed for several days and they forgot to collect the trash in the room for a few days.
