Weekend stay in Street
Location perfect for visiting nearby Glastonbury & Wells, as well as shopping in Street. Free parking was easy at the back of the hotel. Staff were friendly, especially the lady in the restaurant. All food was good, including the breakfasts. Beautifully decorated for Christmas.
We had a bathroom which was in need of an update - bath panel was damaged & some repairs were needed. Water drained very slowly from bath making having a shower quite unpleasant.

Disappointed
Location for Clarks village.
We stayed in the blossom rooms. The toilet did not flush. It would appear that the staff were aware of this. They said that it should have been repaired that day but no one turned up. Also the sink was leaking, water on the floor. We should not have been put in that room. It was not fit for purpose. Please see attached photos.
However, the staff were very generous in giving us compensation.

Great place to stay good location
The location was prefect close to Clarkes village. We was having a family occasion so was close to the venue too. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. We stayed in a cottage across the road it was quiet. Comfortable bed everything you needed in room. Breakfast in morning was lots of choice to chose from. Continental and cooked breakfast.

A very enjoyable relaxing stay. The staff were particularly friendly and helpful. We would stay there again.
The friendliness of the staff.
The decor and seasonal decorations, lighting, layout and cosy log fires, relaxing areas and spaciousness.
The excellent quality of the food and the choice of menus.
The location.
No side entrance to the main hotel for visitors staying in Rose Cottage at the side of the hotel, particularly when it is wet.

Great Somerset Break.
Staff were excellent , very friendly and helpful. The Inn was warm and welcoming , well lit and decorated. Beds were clean and comfortable ,towels good changed daily. Food was good at breakfast and dinner. Parking was adequate. Brilliant location.
Decor a bit jaded in places, carpets in bedrooms need cleaning.. Hot water was ferociously hot! Stairs to rooms 1-9 are very steep. No orange juice at breakfast, breakfast hot water urn questionable.

The Bear(disappointing)
Location was just as we needed
Rooms dated. Just 1 chair, no table as there used to be. No anti slip mat for the shower.Bathroom dated too, in fact ,there is little change since visiting 30yrs ago. Disappointing. Breakfast was very poor,I only had a bacon and sausage sandwich. The bread was very dry,as though it was last week's,just 1 sausage, bacon was ok. My wife had poached eggs with avocado on toast. The avocado was remblence of slime and the eggs rock hard.

Location and Food is excellent for a weekend away.
The food, staff and location were excellent. Food delicious! Staff friendly and helpful. Was a nice surprise to see how close we were to the outlets, we came to visit Glastonbury but enjoyed the Clarks Village too!
When we arrived our room seemed pleasant, but there was limited almost finished rolls of toilet paper. A very dirty tub and shower curtain. Ripped curtains on the bedroom window, a broken hair dryer and dirty coffee machine. So that was a disappointment. A nice maid got us a new hair dryer very quickly which was good.

Overall, the room didn’t suit our requirements, but the hotel itself seemed lovely.
Convenient location and lovely, helpful staff.
Our particular room was above the beer garden. The room was very hot, so windows had to be left open. However, when customers were smoking outside the room smelt of smoke, it was also noisy. Perhaps other rooms are better placed.

The Bear needs money spending on it.
Staff were generally helpful, the lady who appeared to do everything was excellent.
The Bear clearly needs some care and attention, room 11 in which we stayed while being spacious was sparsely furnished, with holes in the net curtains. The bathroom needed decorating, the shower was poor and there wasn’t a non slip mat for the bath.

Perfect for me at reasonable price.
Ticked all my boxes: bath not just shower, power sockets beside the bed, radiators worked instantly, big comfortable room and bed, exceptionally friendly reception area. Shame I didn't have time to sample the bar and restaurant.

Architecture, location, bar and restaurant, good value and quality food; helpful waitresses
Faded glory-needs complete renovation of bedrooms, stars, dirty torn dining chairs; chipped crockery, not enough staff so overworked

Perfect, budget, family friendly accommodation with great staff in a friendly Somerset town.
This is a really cheerful and homely pub/inn in Somerset- part of the Marston’s group of pubs, restaurants & inns.
It’s an ideal bolthole for us as our halfway stopover en route to Cornwall, making it 2 journeys of 2.5-3 hrs rather than 1 long push of 6. Plenty of parking available which is free to hotel patrons, sorted out hassle free on check in.
The staff were super friendly and helpful, especially Bayleigh who was kind, friendly, super efficient, and ran the dining room at breakfast effortlessly, going above and beyond to make our stay as perfect as possible.
While the rooms may not be described as luxury 5 star accommodation, the family rooms are spacious, well serviced with light from 2 windows, are well furnished with 4 beds, 1x double & 2x singles and perfect for 2 adults & 2 teens.
The shower was powerful with plenty of hot water, with good towels provided and the bathroom spacious and light too,
The curtains darken the room sufficiently for a sound nights sleep.
Our accommodation was separate to the pub in cottage style buildings next door. It had its own entrance, which made it feel private and ensured there were no issues with noise at bedtime or early morning.
Breakfast was a separate add on in the morning which we chose because of its value, with good choice of continental and cooked options for the whole family.
Street is also really nice town, Clark’s Village is great for a browse and a branded bargain and we can highly recommend The Fondo Lounge for a meal in town, especially their Cheeky Monday deal which is terrific value.
Only thing that could be improved for me, but this goes for all pubs and restaurants across the UK, is a good alcohol free beer on draught. There were options available in bottles & cans but somehow a pulled pint feels different.

Expensive & not worth the money.
The beer garden is nice.
We were put in blossom cottages which is down the road & the rooms were pretty bad. I booked 6 rooms & 2 were in the main building but the rest were in blossom cottages. They were not great & definitely not worth £132.50 a night!! It was booked a long way in advance so I don’t understand why we were not in the main building. The 2 rooms we booked in the pub were fine but the rest left a lot to be desired. Rusty radiator & paint peeling off in the bathrooms & the rooms smelt damp. They were all very poor rooms for the money charged. In the bar itself the staff were overrun & couldn’t keep up with the orders. Big queues at the bar, they encourage you to order via a qr code but it didn’t work half the time. If you know there is a big event that weekend in the area surely you would ensure you had enough staff to cope with that!

A very pleasant looking inn with a great bar.
A very nice hotel with excellent bar. The staff is pleasant and helpful. The room was very big and could easily accommodate a family of four. Location is fine.
The room was a bit old, and facilities worn. Wifi in the room wasn't that strong.

Lovely and serene….a nice West Country summer feel
Clean, pleasant and almost secluded.
The windows to the room were old fashioned and quite weak. I know that they help to keep the character of the property, but more modern one’s would also help with security - particularly on the ground floor.
