Very good hospitality by the couple that own and run the hotel. Nice breakfast.
It could have had a larger shower that does not always flood the floor of the bathroom.

This is a wonderful place to stay to enjoy the peace and quiet of the wonderful forests of the Rhodope region. The hosts , Georgos and Varvara ,are exceptionally kind and hospitable, and provided us with maps and useful information for exploring the region. The breakfasts were excellent with a variety of local products - honey, nuts and dried fruit, fresh eggs, yoghurt and pies. Georgos even gave us leftover pies to take up into the mountains. Although the restaurant was temporarily closed because of health issues, we were offered light suppers and drinks, which were ample following our lunches in local taverns! The guesthouse was spotlessly clean and the grounds well maintained. The decor is in keeping with the traditional style of the house with some beautiful carved chestnut furniture and fittings - again products of the area. I am looking forward to visiting again in the Autumn when the trees will be spectacular!
There was nothing I didn't like - but this is not for you if you want a lively place. The guesthouse is in a tiny village in the midst of the forests - perfect for a bit of "nature bathing"!

High in the hills of Drama, Greece, the Petrini Gonia Hotel offers a serene escape. While a scenic drive is required to reach its elevated location, the journey is well worth it. During our two-night stay with my family on August 18th and 19th, we were captivated by the stunning morning views of the surrounding mountains, often shrouded in beautiful summer fog. The warm hospitality of the owners made our visit even more special, highlighted by excellent breakfasts with a wide variety of delicious options. Every moment of our stay was truly exceptional, from the breathtaking scenery to the wonderful food.

Very friendly even though I couldn’t speak Greek

I appreciate this is a small family run guest house in the middle of the countryside. The small room was exceptionally clean and nicely decorated. The food in the taverna was good, served by the charming host. The view from the balcony was lovely.
We stayed here on the journey back from Greece to Bulgaria. I suppose because the price was so high (£83) for a rural BnB, I had equally high expectations.
I was a bit disappointed by there being only one chair on the balcony. why? (there were two of us) and horrible Nescafé for coffee for breakfast (other than Greek, which of course is fine!) The otherwise good breakfast was served on the reception counter and felt uncomfortable/awkward. Minor disappointments, agreed. I wish them well.

Heartfelt, warm Greek hospitality in a small village amongst beautiful forests and mountains. Nice, well decorated and clean room, outside terraces available, grill taverna managed by the same family.
Nothing. I wish we could have stayed longer.

Very nice family-owned hotel. Calm, clean and with an amazing view. The restaurant is also very nice. We recommend it :)
Not everyone speaks English, but this was no problem for us and that way we learned a bit greek ;)

The area of the hotel (inside and outside) is beautiful and perfectly maintained! The hosts take a great care of the garden. It's very clean! They also have a tavern with great food, mostly with meat which we don't eat... We tried a number of veggi options, which were just perfect! The hosts helped us to make an appointment for the covid test.
A beautiful hiking trail starts right behind the hotel, even though it was extremely hot, it was still possible to hike, because it's mostly shady, and after a while becomes elevated enough for the heat to bother you.
My hope was that the place is high enough in the mountains to get cooler at night, but in the summer heat the location didn't help much. The AC was a bit too loud. The hosts don't speak English at all, but they manage great with google translate and are very helpful overall, so nothing to complain about. The area is very remote and not touristic at all which has its pros and cons. For the caves, rafting, and mountain peaks you'll need to drive for around 1h.

The view is magnificent, the owners of the hotel are extremely nice and welcoming, we enjoyed very much the dinner we had in the restaurant (Tavern), and the silence is so calming.. Don't miss the trip to the upper Nestos river
