Catania Crossing B&B - Rooms & Comforts

I liked that the location was convenient and that the rooms looked exactly like in the pictures. The rooms were also clean, and we appreciated that breakfast was included in the price — a pastry and a coffee of our choice from the shop downstairs.

What I didn’t like was that at the end of our trip we encountered a not very friendly owner. Before our arrival, he suggested that we cancel the Booking reservation and said he would give us a discount, which we declined. Everything remained as originally booked and we paid for our stay in cash. However, the day before check-out, he canceled our reservation without our knowledge. When we asked him about it, instead of apologizing or trying to resolve the situation, he started shouting at us and blamed his son, saying that his son had accidentally canceled the reservation. When we told him that we would contact Booking about the situation, he became even more aggressive and continued shouting at us. What was especially unpleasant was that there was no apology or genuine attempt to take responsibility for what had happened — only excuses and shifting the blame onto his son. The issue is not the money; it was simply a very bad feeling to be put in this situation and then treated this way when we asked for an explanation. Without this incident, our experience with the apartment would have been significantly better, because the apartment itself is actually very good.

Centrally located for exploring Catania. The room had the essentials for a stay and always good to have a nespresso machine in the room.

It was not clear during booking that there would be no staff present during check in or throughout the stay. Whilst remote check in was managed smoothly, it would have been more pleasant to be welcomed to the property. We didn’t like that the room key was already in the door when we arrived as this didn’t feel very secure.

Breakfast at nearby cafe was very good, would have been helpful knowing what voucher was good for before we went. As others have mentioned, rooms overlook a very busy market that starts setting up in the early hours so can be noisy. Location was excellent in terms of walking distance to attractions and was very convenient to bus stop.

Area was a bit seedy, and building was hard to find, but once inside interior was much better than exterior.
