If you are looking for a bed to sleep, this place is good with a great location, but that’s about it. They clearly don’t know what is a hotel, how it works, nor do they care.
Few points:
- hard to find the entrance. It is just an old entrance of an old building where you feel no one lives there.
- hotel is on the 2nd floor, another hotel is on first floor. The lift does not work, when it works you need to keep pressing a button while it moves and shakes all around. It can not fit 2 people with their luggage.
- since we did not know all this, I had to go up to 2nd floor in the stairs and holding two big luggage. When I asked the receptionist if the elevator works, she said: you should have called me!!!! We exchanged around 7 messages before arriving and she never mentioned a word about that.
- the reason we exchanged so many messages is because we were harrassed about our arrival time. There is no reception all the time, officially it is till 9 PM with a two-hours break at 1 PM. But that is wrong, there is no reception at all and a paper (handwritten) was left every day to say that “exceptionally” there is no reception for the day. Actually it was the same every day except Saturday…
- the stairs are awful, you feel like a war zone passed by.
- the shower is done for slim people, if you are a bit overweight then you struggle to enter it and move inside. Black spots all inside it….
- the bed is big but the cushions don’t cover it all …. They are too small. You could literally add a third pillow between the existing two!
- asked where we can leave the luggage as we are catching an afternoon flight, they said it is impossible. And lectured me that “hotels are not obliged to provide this service”… first time ever I hear of such a thing after traveling to 45+ countries.
- at checkout when we wanted to pay city taxes with card, they said no it is not possible, only cash! When I said: but previous hotel in Palermo was fine with cards, the answer of the receptionist was: “we are in Catania here, not in Palermo!!”
Arrogance, carelessness, zero service, you got it …
