Victorian style bed and breakfast in good location.

Very interesting breakfast options, I chose poached eggs and smoked salmon, yum. Plus greek yogurt and fruit, a very splendid breakfast. I like the direct easy walk into Carlisle centre.. Great to have good attention from Adele who is a superb host.

Sorry Adele was ill and not able to host us or offer breakfast on Sunday morning. However, the Cathedral cafe was open so we were able to get breakfast there instead.

Location excellent but as a guest house we have stayed in better

The location to where we need to be was excellent, for the graduation to the cathedral

We where asked on the day we checked in what time we would like breakfast and what we what we want for breakfast, one full and other no tomatoes or beans the next day the breakfast came both full not to the request and over loaded, we advised that one was no tomatoes and beans to which we got was we had advised her we both wanted full everything. She used my spoon which had yogurt on to remove the tomatoes and beans from husband plate, I end asking her to leave The room we stayed in had low ceilings and had not been advised of this, there was a chair located in one part of the low ceilings and no warning signs of the low ceiling, my husband banged his head really bad, if warning signs had been there he may not of banged his head The room was very cold and the shower took a good 10 minutes to warm up

Unfit host

Great little BnB situated very close to everything you need! Clean, comfy and on arrival looked like everything we hoped it would be.

As soon as morning came the adventure began! No sign of owner to serve breakfast...... After many attempts to get her attention and other guests coming and going and sharing their experience it was very clear we were truly self catering. I chose to ignore the rumours on the condition of our host and phoned her again. After a very confusing phone call, where she said she'd fallen I decided to contact emergency services. Police and paramedics arrived, ramming tool in hand and basically broke the door in. She was found and we were assured she was breathing and conscious however not exactly sober! We were all promised refunds (via the paramedics) for breakfast and asked to pack up and leave. In the next few days my group were all contacted re payment- she'd asked for cash but luckily I'd booked through Booking.com. I contacted her and said I'd like the refund offered before leaving review. She replied saying sorry and that refund would be sorted.....it wasn't! I thought I'd check with Booking.com Customer Service who have informed me it hadn't been requested. Thing is they can see she's offered it in messages so they have sorted it but not because she prompted it. We'd had a really good night but unfortunately this just killed the good mood 😞 Such a shame, beautiful building and surroundings but night away spoiled because of unfit host.

Excellent overnight stopover for work.

I arrived after dark and found somewhere to park on the street behind the property. The lady host provided me with a parking permit. The location was within walking distance of a choice of restaurants for an evening meal. The room was clean and comfortable for an overnight work stop and breakfast was excellent. I will definitely stop again if on a similar schedule.

Enjoyed this stay overall. Would recommend and would stay agai

Host was welcoming and jolly. Central location- walkable/close to Hadrians wall path, Carlisle bus station and train station, supermarkets and restaurants. The host upgraded us from bedroom with separate bathroom off hallway to an en-suite, because it was available. We were up in the attic, so quiet, and room was warm Enjoyed the tv in the evenings after dinner. I liked how large the rooms felt with high ceilings. Sometimes b&bs can feel cramped, but this one felt spacious.

The first morning the cooked breakfast was on time. and as ordered, but quite greasy. The second morning we ordered eggs on toast instead. It was 30 minutes late (not ideal as we had a train home to catch) and the eggs were undercooked, with shell visible, so didn’t eat it. I did have the yogurt, fruit and muesli instead. The host said she was lacking help with breakfasts and possibly had personal circumstances. I agree with other comments to offer more continental options, if struggling with cooked breakfast, at times when having staffing issues.

The perfect stay!

My second stay at Cornerways, and it was perfect again. The hosts are very welcoming, helpful, and lovely to chat with. The property itself is ideally located, within walking distance to the centre, shops etc. Tastefully decorated throughout including the rooms, they’ve done a great job on this. I stayed in the room with a private bathroom and it was great, had everything I needed, great shower and the bed was super comfy meaning I got a good night’s sleep. Breakfast was a welcome treat at the start of the day and it was delicious too. A big thank you to the hosts, I am looking forward to coming back.

Outstanding location, warm and cozy rooms, exceeds all expectations.

Adell is a superb host. She operates one of the most charming and lovely guesthouses I've ever visited. Her place is super clean, well run and Adell makes sure everything is just so. Our breakfasts on both mornings were wonderful, hearty and tasty. She creates a pleasant atmosphere in the breakfast room. We had a wonderful conversation with other guests while eating breakfast. If/when I travel to Carlisle again I will certainly stay the Cornerways Guest House. I highly recommend this place.

I can't think of anything to be critical of. I am an experienced traveler. I have high expectations and a critical eye for poorly operated hotels, B&B's and Inns. There is truly nothing bad about Adell's place.

A nice place to stay in Carlisle

We enjoyed our overnight stay in the Cornerways Guest House. It was easy to find and we were given a parking disc to park near the guest house which was very helpful as the road system in Carlisle is seeing a lot of change into a more pedestrian friendly city, but parking in the centre seems very difficult. The breakfast was excellent. I imagine that the owners have had trouble with previous guests as there were quite a few notices about what was allowed and what wasn't.

At times the shower didn't seem to have a lot of water power in comparison with some other places but that wasn't really a problem.
