A place that I wish I could stay longer

I liked a lot the hostel. They have a very nice breakfast that is included and the surroundings are so peaceful and beautiful. Once you learn how to use the public transportation (buses), is so easy to go to the city center or to the falls (I suggest to buy the daily pass). I also enjoyed the place itself, with a lot of wood, you feel comfortable there and it is different from others hostels. The mattress was very comfortable and I had 3 very good nights of sleep.

The only thing that was not good was the internet because it wasn´t available inside the rooms. My room was not in the main house so to get the wifi, I had to go there and at night in the cold and dark was not good moving from the main house to the house where I was sleeping. Even with that situation, I would stay there again for sure. Oh, and If they can put some cushions on the couch of the main room it would become more comfortable and cozy.

Poorly run youth hostel, badly needs updating

Comfortable beds - that’s about it!

Poorly run. No towels provided just like the Victorian times. Breakfast was cut off at 9am which was shocking. I have been to many youth hostels, this one is way behind the times. A few days earlier I went to Schaan - it was massively superior compared to this one and also cheaper.

When I arrived I discovered that I had accidentally booked for the following night, not the night I was planning to be there! The staff was able to talk to a fellow that had booked a 4 person dorm all for himself to see if he would be willing to share. I think the fact that I was an older solo traveler helped him agree to this. We ended up getting along well. I was really impressed that staff at check in were willing to go above and beyond to make my stay possible. Plus, it was a comfortable bed.

Clean and Well Kept Youth Hostel

Quiet location. Probably the cleanest and well kept Youth Hostel I have stayed in. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. Comfortable bed. Breakfast was fine.

We had an amazing stay! The staff was really nice and allowed us an early check in and check out, they also answered all our questions both before and during the stay. We spent an amazing couple of days and felt really welcome, the facilities were super pretty and clean, and the outside area was also beautiful. 10/10

The *only* issue we had was the wifi signal being a bit weak in the room, but that did not affect our stay at all.

An older style hostel in a heritage building providing a charming link to a bygone era.

There were no issues. It’s a quiet hostel with spacious grounds. Ideal for Families with small children and cyclists. Good storage for bicycles. Reception was particularly friendly.

The 8 bed bunkroom with only one power point. As it was pretty warm during the night a pedestal fan would have been appreciated.

Exceptional

The location was great, right near the hostel there is a bus stop, and the bus goes directly from/to the main railway station. My main destination was Rheinfall Waterfall, and I traveled with only one bus there and back. Breakfast was amazing, with very fresh bread, and a great choice buffet.

There are a few things to improve

The accommodation looks amazing from the outside and is in a quite quiet location.

The service did not seem very friendly, it was rather average. During the breakfasts there were a lot of wasps inside and outside, which bothered all the guests. The local guests came really late and very drunk to the shared room. There was only one charging socket and it was very high up on the wall. You could only charge while standing. The chargers didn't even reach the chair. There was not much privacy in the toilets and they were not very clean. The showers felt claustrophobic - small room without the possibility of air ventilation.

Pretty house, breakfast included, nice area and activities available.

The room was cold and lots of loud children but there’s no way around that. Fine for low key chill people. Bring earplugs as you can hear people walk past/ up the stairs because it’s a wooden building. Very creaky! :)

Only one socket in the whole room, with 8 beds in it. Bathroom had 6 sockets for 5 sinks, so maybe you are supposed to charge your things in there.

Lovely hostel

Staff were lovely and gave us a free room upgrade so we could enjoy some quiet and not have to share facilities with the only other group (15+ pple) who had rented the place. Breakfast is plentiful and delicious! Fresh warm bread

We booked a twin room but ended up being swapped for bunk beds because they overbooked on the day.

Wonderful!

The staff was really helpful and full of empathy. I had a really long and difficult trip and arrived after 'hours'. Debora had kept dinner that I had ordered but by the time I arrived I just couldn't do with dinner. They didn't charge me with it the day after and were really nice with it. I also liked the fact that in a Youth Hostel not all were too young/old to be there.

Just live the all experience. I hadn't been in a youth hostel for years and this was a very positive experience indeed.

The Big BBQ Pit and outdoor space for children to run around and play.

Good

We stayed in a five beds room with a private bathroom. The room is big enough for the five of us. The beds were comfortable. The room and the bathroom were clean. Breakfast was according to european standard serving selections of breads, cheese and cold cuts. Yoghurt was excellent. The offered also cereals. Service was excellent, helpful and infornative. Bus ststion is around 5 minutes walk and from there you can take bus number 4 and 6 to th3 schaffhausen station and the old city of schaffhausen. Also can go from the bus station to Rhinefalls. Transport wise was convenient

The internet connection in our room was poor. Sometimes we have signals but most of the time don’t. We had to go downstairs to the lobby to get internet connection. The internet connection in the lobby was good.

Superb

Super friendly helpful staff. The swimming pool and bike traffic park next door were a hit with the kids. The bus from the train station stops right at the door and runs frequently. The same bus line runs straight to the Rheinfall. The hostel is in a beautiful old building. There is heaps of room around the hostel for the kids to play and there is even indoor bike parking.
