Very clean, lovely couple running it, nice little extras such as locally made shower gels. Good breakfast catering for vegetarians .Private parking in Ambleside is so useful, just parked up then walked everywhere.

Excellent location, breakfast was spot on, hosts Darren and Debbie were welcoming and attentive, our room was clean, warm, quiet and comfortable. We will definitely be back.

Breakfast was excellent, a large choice of cereals, I had the home made muesli with yoghurt followed by toast, poached eggs and salmon. The tea was tip top - good and strong.
I've been coming to Ambleside since 1993 and it never disappoints. There's been some changes over the years but it's stayed a very welcoming place and Rothay House is true to the spirit of welcoming visitors. Free parking at the house was a major boon. I always use the local bus for walking trips around the Lakes and it was nice to be able to leave my car in a safe secure location and not have to constantly move it and check on it in public carparks.
Nothing really, the room was a bit big for just me but that wasn't a problem.
