Ellora Villa

The check-in process was easy. The staffing levels were excellent, and their attention to detail was very good. Breakfast in our villa cooked each morning at a time e that suited us was a nice touch. Breakfast was delicious also. We enjoyed being so close to Icon mall and easy access to beach activities, walking track, and nice restaurants, but not the ones in the Icon mall, too overpriced 🙄🤷‍♀️

We didn't appreciate that the pool cleaners arrived in the afternoon as we'd just arrived back from outing on one of our days there. They did say was it okay to clean the pool, but then added chemicals, and we could not swim for an hour, which we had planned to do when we came back. Also, our rowdy neighbours' next villa ( pretty sure we're also Australian) several afternoons, leading into evening's were boisterous and drinking. The villas are pretty good, locking out excessive noise, thankfully 🤷‍♀️🙄🤣

The villa is really well situated, down a laneway directly opposite the new Icon shopping centre. It’s close to bars and restaurants, but also secluded. The staff were very friendly and attentive, without being overbearing. The villa is comfortable and has everything you need to have a relaxing and enjoyable stay. We will certainly stay there again.

There wasn’t a lot not to like. Some of the amenities in the bathroom were a little basic. But that was a very minor thing in the grand scheme of things.

Location, service, facilities and price.

If I had to complain, it would be about the pillows. Would definitely bring my own next time... but otherwise couldn't fault.

We've stayed at Ellora a number of times during our visits to Bali. The Villa itself is very generous in size and space. The beds have been very hard in the past but they've added mattress topper (in our Villa) which was very helpful as we now prefer softer beds. The pool is a good size too! It's really quiet there which isn't always the case in some other villas in the area. The location is excellent. Close to many restaurants, cafes and money changers. You're also very close to Bali Icon mall which may or may not appeal to you.

The standards and cleanliness have dropped compared to previous visits. The bed linen is looking like it's seen better days, furniture (inside and out) is starting to look tired, worn and in need of a really good clean to remove the stains from previous guests over the years. They used to provide mozzie plug ins and bug stray previously but that doesn't seem to be the case now. Previous years they would turn down your room and turn the lights on etc. that doesn't happen anymore either. The soap/shampoo and conditioner are of a very poor standard. The aircon is probably too small for the size of the unit so it does struggle to cool your room through the day but you do have your own pool to help you cool down. It's also fine at night once the sun goes down and you have the benefit of a fan above your bed. The other issue with a under powered aircon unit is that your clothes start to get a little damp (it's the tropics after all). The iron (no board) was ancient and poor quality Lighting in the villa is poor and it can be a bit tricky to read your book in bed but this is the case in a lot of the accommodation in Bali. A couple of higher watt bulbs in the bedside lamps would fix this. The pool wasn't clean when we arrived. It looked like the filter hadn't been running so maybe the villa had been empty for a period of time. It was running during our stay in the villa and took about 2 days for the pool to look clear and clean. Also the pool water wasn't at the required water level so the filter was struggling to get enough water to it to work properly. They topped it up on our 3rd day and helped the pool stay clean and clear. These are the things that should have all been sorted before our arrival and that's the difference between a well run property and a property that has let their standards drop. This happens a lot in Bali so we're kind of used it now although it's no less disappointing.
