YHA Canterbury

The staff was wonderful and it's in a quiet part of town outside of the city centre; there's a Sainsbury nearby! I really like how there's a kitchen with plates, utensils, and stove and kitchen to use, and a dining area. There are games, a common area, and some space to park. There's lots of people staying so it feels safe, and it's very family-friendly. The bunk bed has an outlet and light, and the supply a locker, too! The showers are quite clean which makes the stay wonderful.

Nothing to dislike, just areas I hope can enhance the stay. It was tremendously hot inside the room and the windows don't quite open. They placed a large fan but it doesn't really help. If there's any way to help cool the rooms during the hot summer heatwaves, it will make the stay better because I sweated in bed and couldn't sleep. It would be lovely if there are curtains on the bed, and it would be extra extra nice if there's an ice machine. Luckily there was a Sainsbury 5 minutes away and I can buy some ice and food.

The location and staff.

Windows need to open more fully. Health and safety Law has ruled this current situation, which is no fault of the YHA. Dorms need fresh air!!! That is also a safety issue... Dorms can be smelly and infection spreads. Fresh air is essential for health. If parents want have or to bring their kids, their safety must not overrule the health of others. IT'S A YOUTH HOSTEL, not a children's home. People bring their germs from all over the world to Canterbury, and we all expect healthy air!!! Wanna bring kids? Book a pod, or better a hotel. Please don't punish the rest of us. Savvy??? Peace.

Room was tidy and well ventilated. Breakfast was good. Only downside is the car parking spaces. Very few spaces and difficult to find parking in near by roads as they all have parking restrictions.

The member of staff did not explain about the hostel facilities. I told him that was my first time there. I didn't known that there was a kitchen that I could prepare a cup of tea for myself. I found out the following morning.
