I cannot say enough good things about this resort! Firstly, incredible restaurant (the venue itself is gorgeous and peaceful) - breakfasts are filling, nutritious and delicious. Best food I had in Bali overall. As a vegan very familiar with high quality plant-based food, all the meals exceeded by expectations. Private cooking class was amazing - the head chef was very kind, passionate and knowledgeable. The create your own tea station was amazing. The fresh juices refreshing and so healthy. I felt incredibly refreshed, calm, and healthy after only 4 days here! Secondly, Great wellness retreat in general - morning yoga was am amazing way to start the day! Pool was relaxing. I did use the gym on a rainy day and found even those facilities peaceful. The massages were amazing - recommend the traditional Balinese massage. My room had a luxurious outdoor shower and also a large private bathtub RIGHT overlooking the rushing river - gorgeous and peaceful. Thirdly, the staff are top tier and genuinely friendly and welcoming and respectful, and always professional and available immediately to help with anything - resort manager was excellent and came to speak with me immediately when I had only a minor concern/question about my room. They are available on WhatsApp and very responsive to quests needs! Lastly, just overall gorgeous grounds - beautiful resort nestled in the jungle, on the river and so peaceful to feel immersed in nature. My room was stunning, quiet, well maintained and cleaned/refreshed two times daily (evening turndown service). As a young solo woman traveler, I felt incredibly safe and well taken care of here. I would come back alone or as a couple or with friends 100 percent! It is great for a peaceful solo retreat, but also I can see it being very romantic, or nice for a girls/friend trip! The other guests at the resort were also very friendly and I enjoyed some company for a few meals with other solo travelers and made some friends!
I really loved this resort overall. Zero true complaints - top tier resort and amazing experience. Personally, the only thing that I would prefer as a vegan who really prefers to patronize fully plant-based businesses, is for the menu to NOT offer fish or eggs/animal products as that does not align with my values. I would love to find a truly 100 percent vegan resort. For example, I eat vegan egg/vegan omelettes with mung bean alll the time (and other restaurants in Bali offered vegan egg), and even omnivores usually cannot tell the difference. Vegan honey also exists. I accidently ordered a chicken egg omelette thinking it was vegan egg and took a bite and was revolted/obviously had to send it back which felt wasteful too, so that was my only negative experience. I just don't think it is necessary to always cater to people who want animal products, as so very few places exist that truly reject animal exploitation. I believe they can survive a few days or a week with vegan egg and vegan sushi/fish etc. ;) and they might learn something new/to love vegan alternatives!

I rarely take time to write detailed reviews but this place was quite honestly the best place I have ever stayed at.
From the moment I arrived I knew I had made the right decision. The staff were attentive and made me feel welcome from the start (even if it was 11pm at night and I was half asleep).
The room itself was a dream! From the giant super king size bed to the tranquil location - I felt completely at peace. With no distractions and little noise apart from nature surrounding the room, I was able to fully switch off. The outdoor shower and bathtub was simply sublime and really added to the rustic feel of the retreat. The housekeeping staff were attentive and beyond friendly, cleaning the room in the morning and then refreshing in the evening.
I treated myself to a facial at the spa which was incredible. Although slightly on the pricier side (similar to western prices) it was definitely worth it. It was held in a hut surrounded by nature with 100% natural products and a very knowledgeable facialist.
Now the food is what I am most excited to write about and I would return just for the exquisite meals that are served. The breakfast consisted of fresh fruit, smoothies, homemade bread, jam and spreads as well as a rotating main menu. I tried vegan shakshuka, amazing porridge bowls and crepes. The dinner also had a rotating menu which meant that there was always something different to try and always using fresh ingredients.
The staff were also what made my stay so memorable. I was fortunate to go on a tour of the local village and our lovely guide who works at the resort and also lives in the village shared stories about local life and information about the culture.
I took a grab motorbike into Ubud twice during my stay which was great to explore the local area and was only approximately 15 minutes away.

Our villa with private pool was beautiful! The restaurant was exceptional, with large healthy servings and a great variety of predominantly plant based food. The treatments at the day spa were excellent. The resort is so secluded, you feel a long way away from the busy roads of SE Asia. All the staff were friendly, polite and went above and beyond to assist us where they could.
Bear in mind the resort is in quite an untouched location, and the wildlife that lives there will live with you too!

The gym was a great new addition, there was at least some relaxation here by the pool which was nice
This visit was very disappointing compared to the five times I came before Covid. If it was your first visit, you might enjoy itābut for those of us who knew it before, the changes are hard to ignore.
Itās clear the place is under new management, which explains a lot. The menu is nothing like it used to beāhot chips on a "wellness retreat" menu? The food was bland, uninspired, and inconsistent with what Iāve previously experienced which was exceptional For a vegan-focused retreat, the creativity just isn't there. Hashbrowns on the menu for breakfast?
The service also felt disorganised. Staff knocked on my door early in the morning for cleaning, ignoring me when I said I wasnāt ready, and even interrupted a treatment to get me to sign a bill while I was face down in a massage. Meals arrived far too early and were left sitting in the heat, showing little care or planning.
I shared my concerns during my stay and, while I was offered a complimentary dinner as an apology, it didnāt come close to making up for the overall decline in standardsāespecially considering the price. To make matters worse, at checkout a promised discount hadnāt been applied, meaning I overpaid.
The treatments themselves were still good, though not nearly as exceptional as in the past. The atmosphere has lost its sparkle. It felt more like a standard 4-star hotel than the peaceful health retreat I once loved. I was shocked to find children and babies allowed, which completely undermined the quiet, restorative environment I came for.
On top of that, I visited in August and was kept awake every night by the loud kites flown nearby, which sound like jackhammer above your room. This is a common issue in Bali during this season, but I feel the retreat should set clearer rules to protect guests seeking tranquillity.
Sadly, I wonāt be returning hereāor to Bali. Between the noise, traffic, loss of culture, and inflated prices, it no longer feels like the special place it once was.

When the word retreat has a real meaning. You want to disconnect, here is the place.
Location not great as Ubud area is not really near. Also if you are not into vegetarian food you will be looking for restaurants or delivery.

The staff are extremely friendly, helpful and accommodating. The property is absolutely gorgeous and creates a very zen feeling. Finally, although we are not vegan, the vegan food is simply amazing!!!
At the time of our stay, the pool was closed for maintenance, which was a little disappointing, but not enough to ruin our stay. š

Everything!!Fivelements Retreat delivers on every level! From the warm welcome by the GM and staff with their huge smiles, to the beautiful grounds and the exquisite rooms, this Retreat is an absolute gem and a true haven of peace and Tranquility. The spa treatments are excellent and the healers are truly gifted and just amazing. I even loved the morning yoga and I have never been a yoga fan! My room was stunning and the bed and pillows were super comfy. Although I am not vegetarian or vegan,I loved the plant-based menu and every meal I ate at the restaurant was delicious. I absolutely loved my stay at Fivelements and I am already planning my return trip.:)
There was honestly nothing that I didn't like.

The gardens were well kept. Food was very good. Lovely therapists.
The bathroom wall was dangerous and unstable. A massive rock cracked and fell at night. If it had fallen on me while I was in the bathroom, it could have been extremely dangerous. There were a few (very large) rocks missing so it was clearly not the first time this has happened. The receptionist lied and said it had not happened before. The staff did not seem concerned.

The check-in and the whole stay were excellent. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful, a great introduction to Bali. Rooms are very good, and the whole hotel is very clean.
Some of the evening meals are a bit strange (but OK), and more annoyingly, not many hot meals. I tended to eat out where possible. However, breakfast was excellent, and the lunch selection was good. Please note that Vegetarian meals only.

I had a great stay at Fivelements Retreat Bali! The staff were always kind and smiling, which made me feel very welcome. The yoga teacher was amazing ā calm, clear, and full of positive energy. I also really enjoyed the cooking demo ā it was fun and tasty! The whole place is surrounded by beautiful nature, and my room had a lovely view of the river. Such a peaceful and special experience!

Amazing suit, delicious fresh plant-based food, authentic spa treatments and rituals done by locals, calming and relaxing atmosphere throughout, friendly and respectful staff, clean and beautiful.
What else could you ask for?
There's really nothing negative or even neutral about this place in my opinion.
If like us you wish to go to Bali for a tranquil retreat where you'll slow down from your busy day-to-day, then this one is a gem!

Such a beautiful resort with lovely staff and amazing wellness. We stayed two nights but since we only were at the resort that was enough for us. The highlight was the wellness treatment I got with a coconut bath in front of our riverfront suite so my husband and daughter could join. It was amazing! The food in the plant based restaurant was also very good. The yoga class in the morning was nice as well. Very comfortable beds.
The baby chair was made of fabric so after we've had 6 meals in the restaurant it was very dirty. I advised them to get another baby chair which is easier to clean ;)

The property is very far from the main road

This is the most relaxing Hotel I have ever stayed at. This is where you need to go to recharge human batteries when they are running low š
Nothing, it was simply perfect, even the vegan menu was very tasty!

Stunning property, truly elegant and kind staff. Fantastic services and food, world class hospitality. Quiet disconnection from the world with as little or as much communication as you desire. I cannot wait to return!
The rooms were understandably humid at night; even with air conditioning on 24-7.
This is a given since it is such a natural setting with outdoor bathrooms and riverfront rooms.

The staff were so friendly and helpful. Loved how the management views taking care of the environment with sustainable goals as important as taking care of people.
Also, Shuttle service to Ubud thrice a day negates the issue with location.

This is an exceptional location and resort. The treatments and facilities are amazing. Lovely food, ( and lots of it) and some of the best sleepI've ever had. Will definitely return
Whilst enjoying vegan food, I'm not 100% vegan. Looking at the website in advance the only picture of the food was a salad type dish, I really expected to be hungry during my stay. Incredibly surprised by the food once there. Just a suggestion that maybe there should be images of more of the type of dishes that you serve? If I wasn't attending a wedding there it might have put me off booking?

The absolutely stunning location is next to the river. We could not imagine that we leave for 4 days in the vegan hotel, but the food was so great that we regretted leaving. You won't miss mil or meat here. Chef is doing an amazing job. Flower baths in the room is also an absolute must (take a room with private pool)
nothing, all was exceptional
