Great location with lovely staff

Location was great, easy walking distance to the old town. Room was very spacious with high ceilings, beds were comfortable and shower was great! The lady on reception was super friendly and helpful.

They provide a small amount of coffee pods, if you want any more you need to pay for them. One bottle of water provided for 3 people and a small (but annoying) gripe there is only a bin which is in the bathroom.

Comfortable and pleasant.

Our room was warm when we arrived. Easy to use radiator. The fridge was cold and well stocked, not that we used it. Period features. Air con for warmer months. A kettle available on request at reception. Svetlana on reception was really friendly and always smiling. Bed and pillows were of a good standard. WiFi decent. Corner shop and a bakery just around the corner. I would stay again...

We were on the 2nd floor, or 3rd if not from the UK. The 2nd flight of stairs might be a struggle for some after a few beers perhaps. No lift, due to building regulations apparently. Staff can carry your bags if required. We stayed in room 9, the skylight window could not be reached to shut the blind without moving a table/desk.

The staff was especially courteous. They were very prompt and went out of their way to open doors and accommodate me and my young child wherever possible.

The breakfast was a little more pricey than I am used to at other hotels but it convenient and provided good options.

A little gem of a place.

The young woman managing reception was so helpful, pleasant, informative, and efficient. A real asset to the hotel. Breakfast was nice, good selection and well presented. The location of the hotel is perfect for city centre access.

The vibe at Hotel Onderbergen was out-dated but good value thanks to location and staff.

Hotel Onderbergen was good value for the location in Ghent. Our room had 2 comfortable single beds on the first floor with a window overlooking a quiet alley. The private bathroom was larger than expected and clean. There was a fan available in the closet. The staff were uniformly pleasant and helpful. Breakfast (which costs extra) had quite a generous array of offerings and was connected to an Irish pub next door.

Our 2 single-bed room was cave-like (dark). The shower was slippery, and there were no safety rails. There was a lack of options for hanging wet towels. Management should consider updating the room with better lighting and wall coverings.

Great location, clean hotel, super service.

The location of the hotel is fantastic. The Front Line staff - Lanna was a very polite, friendly, helpful and kind lady. She gave us a lot of good recommendations on places to visit and the good food around Ghent. We drove to Ghent and they helped us to reserve a car park so that we can park our car whole day in the hotel.

Lovely old world charm. Very friendly staff. Extremely clean! Excellent shower with great water pressure. Convenient to all tourist areas, but a block on the other side of the canal in quiet neighborhood. 5-10 minute walk to many restaurants. Excellent Irish pub - almost attached - with great food and wide selection of Belgian and other beer.

Definitely stay here!

The hotel staff was very lovely and helpful from the moment we came in to the moment we left. The room was cozy and had everything we needed. Breakfast was also pretty great. From the selection of the cheese to the muesli bar. The connection to the Irish pub is also a huge bonus for if you feel like having a drink and then fall into bed. Alll in all - We can only highly recommend staying here!

A disappointing stay.

The lady on reception was lovely, unlike the rude woman who answered the door. We pushed the wrong buzzer apparently. She said it was “obviously “the wrong buzzer. A warm welcome for a gran and two little boys at the end of a long wet journey.

The triple room was right next to reception and a storage area. It was fairly tired looking, with dust on the lamps. It was dark next to the door, and difficult to see the lock. The beds were comfortable. I’m wondering if the rooms upstairs were better. In an email I was told there was a lovely room on the ground floor for us. It wasn’t. I’m wondering if it was because I was travelling with children.

Our to-go-Place for weekends in Ghent

The Hotel is located just minutes away from the beautiful Old Town. Within 5 minutes you can reach a dozens cafés and most of the attractions. There was a nice and secure parking spot when we arrived, which you can book beforehand. The staff was extraordinary friendly, helped with luggage and did everything to make us feel comfortable. Even when we booked last-minute breakfast they made it possible to get a table. Since we last stayed here (propably 2021) the Hotel did major upgrades, inlcuding new paint on the walls and way larger breakfast. The room itself is large and quiet, so you easily can sleep with an open window, even on the weekend. The room was very clean, had a coffee machine, a hairdryer and super comfortable bed. The bathroom is way bigger than in most other hotel rooms and even included a baththub AND a shower seperately. The breakfast now is generous for the price and inlcudes cheese, ham, marmelade, bread, bacon, eggs, fresh orange juice, coffee and much more. We loved it.

Clean room and very comfortable bed, great location with parking onsite. Exceptionally helpful staff on reception, some of the best customer service we’ve ever received. Would definitely recommend.
