Exceptional as always!

Everything. The staff are always so friendly and wonderful, polite, kind and helpful, the perfect way to start a stay here. The honeymoon suite was incredible. The bed was so comfortable and I slept a full 8 hours with no interruptions even with the road outside. The rolltop bath is the best feature however, I nearly lost myself in it. The water was lovely and hot and it was just a level of indulgence you dream of. Breakfast was exceptional, and the range of ways the eggs are cooked is superb! The smashed avocado and poached eggs on sourdough toast with extra hash browns were delicious! But I imagine if you order anything off the breakfast menu it will meet, or exceed your expectations.

Beautiful and history place to stay.

Beautiful with a great sense of history. Loved the sloping floors and the 4 poster bed. Very handy in the middle of the town near shops and plenty of great food options.

We had a relaxing very comfortable stay, great breakfast, lovely helpful staff

Our room was an executive double. Super individual , large and very comfortable, with a lovely freestanding bath in the bathroom and a great separate shower. Quality toiletries Bed was super comfy, lots of storage and complimentary water and tea tray. Breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice and great quality.

Overall very pleasant- I was concerned when we first walked in but rooms were nice

People were friendly, rooms comfortable and clean, toiletries and dressing gowns nice. Towels were lovely (important). Breakfast was good and tea/coffee in the room good

Great location, friendly and helpful staff. Room clean and comfortable with all required amenities. When eating in the restaurant the food was of high standard, and well presented.

Nice, could be great with some refurbishment

The bed was very comfortable, the room was clean, the restaurant very good for both the evening meal and breakfast.

First impression wasn't great - holes in the carpet between reception and my room. This is a hotel that could be really good, but things like that let down the image. Also my room was noisy - it sounded like I must have been near an extractor fan from the kitchen, whatever it was ran all through the night.

Excellent Experience

The location is excellent, parking is convenient, and the breakfast selection is plentiful and delicious.

The only drawbacks are the lack of an elevator and the winding stairwells, requiring considerable strength and skill to move luggage.

Breakfast pretty good option of a few cereals?

Stayed here before in a standard room which was on the small side. Superior was bigger but I thought the standard was better. This hotel is okay but is getting a bit tired. No fridge only sparkling water. Decor dull.

Great stay

Loud stay, little sleep

Rooms were a good size

The property had a party on with a live band and did not inform us. It was extremely loud and we could not just hear the band word for word during songs but also when they were talking on the mic between songs. This went on until 11:30pm and then had music playing after with a loud bass + guests leaving where you could hear every word they said as they left. This hotel was booked a night before a marathon and this ruined the sleep before. I would not recommend this property to anyone.

Charming country pub/hotel in a beautiful location

Fabulous hotel. The rooms were absolutely charming with lovely bathrooms. The food was good, particularly the breakfast. The pub is really nice. Great location in a beautiful village.

Omnishambles due to new IT hardware and lack of customer focus.

Great location with parking

Door locks non functional leading to multiple attempts to get a working key. Up and down the stairs 12 times in 25 degrees. Had to get changed for dinner in the disabled toilet. Breakfast: checked in, sat there for 10 mins. Asked for help to be told “we are very busy” - two other guests and tables full of uncleared dishes and cutlery. Waited another 10 - went to front desk to ask to place order - “We are busy so we’ll get to you soon” - 10 more mins with no help so I just left and had to buy breakfast on my own. Lots of staff chatting in reception. Total shambles.

Characterful hotel with plenty of history

Really good location, easy to find, next to all town centre amenities and river Thames a 2 minute walk. Plenty of space to sit inside and outside. Ate in restaurant for dinner and breakfast, service very good and we all enjoyed the food and felt it was good value for money. The building was full of character and history, wonky floors and doors really were part of the experience. We are definitely going to stay there again

Charmful yet basic.

It has its charm. Breakfast is good.

It is fine for a one night stay and if you plan to be out a lot. However, hygiene wise and cleaning simply needs to be improved. It’s dusty and has (black) molde in the bathroom.
