It was a very comfortable stay
Honestly nothing, even at the busiest of times it was still a lovely experience

Everything. We had the most amazing stay for our wedding anniversary. Every member of staff who we came into contact with was friendly, helpful and genuinely seemed like they loved their work. The hotel had incredible facilities - the spa was something very special. We cannot wait to come back!
Absolutely nothing, it was perfect.

It had all the charm and characteristics of it being an extremely well maintained period establishment whilst still providing the luxurious benefits of modern living

Full of character as it’s 126yrs old this year (2026) but very modern comfortable spaces rooms. Also fantastic attentive staff who go above and beyond to make the stay special. Love the fact they also have to brilliant spa areas.
We had to leave 😔

The location and staff were absolutely fantastic
1) the aqua club was far too busy with children running around. It didn’t make for a place of relaxation at all, it felt more like a kids club
2) the room was incredibly hot. Even with the windows opened to the maximum all evening and night it was uncomfortably hot
3) the room’s next to us were occupied by very loud/intoxicated people who were slamming doors at 2/3am. We understand this isn’t the headlands fault exactly but it made for a bad stay for us

The whole experience was calm and relaxed. From being greeted at the entrance by Michael, the staff on reception, and those who we had the pleasure to talk with, Sayeed, Dylan, Molly, Verity carried a calm assurance that we were special guests as they went about their duties. They were attentive, and nothing was too much for them. They treated you as a VIP. The ambience of the hotel gave a feeling that you could relax and enjoy every minute of your stay. The food was excellent, well cooked and presented.
If there were any issues, and there was nothing i didn't like, the overall experience of my stay made them insignificant

The room with the view was excellent.
What could have been definitely better was heating in our room. At our age 79 to return to a room with no heating and constantly battling to get the heating to work. Who wants to have a shower with no heating.

The property is 5 star everything is special
We stayed in room 011 and the constant noise from the heating system was awful. Very little sleep if any.

The service to us from the staff was friendly, patient and efficient
The room we were given had been refurbished, however the the frames of the two small windows in the bedroom and ensuite had been sandpapered but not painted. There were cobwebs on the inside of them. The view was a dirty grey wall approximately two metres from the window.
We were offered four other rooms, three of which were unacceptable for different reasons. We accepted the fourth and last option, which had a 'beach view'. We were later informed this "upgrade", despite it not being refurbished, would cost us an additional one hundred pounds per night, which had been reduced from one hundred and twenty.
Other issues encountered:
The room was cold at night. The central heating control was faulty (no A-C since it is a "listed building"). The hotel supplied an electric radiator on the second night.
The double glazing was faulty, allowing a cold draught. In the high winds this also caused a loud whistling sound.
The small wardrobe (for two people) only had space for six coat hangers.

The location of the hotel and the room was excellent.
Children everywhere and completely took over the space. It felt like a leisure centre and wasn’t relaxing at all. We have attended other family hotels before and there have been far bigger periods where it is adults only. Children were then running around the bar area in the evening.

The hotel is in a fabulous location overlooking Fistral Beach and is a convenient walk from Newquay itself. The staff were without exception, warm and welcoming. The hotel is spacious and comfortable and the food excellent, though we only used the main restaurant for breakfast. The pizzas in the pool complex are excellent. Our room was comfortable and well appointed.
Nothing comes to mind.

Breakfasts were great. Evening meal in the RenMor superb though my wife as a non fish and seafood eater found the menu restrictive. Location of the hotel could not be better. Service and staff great
The outlook from the cosy room is a disgrace. With a little imagination and a not great outlay the lightwell floor could be turned into a delightful garden and the walls could be painter with a beach or seascape. This would be mood lifting and enhance the stay for anyone using these rooms.
Had a meal at the Deck. Such a simple thing as a pizza delivered to table with excessive burning to the top and the whole of the base burned. This resulted in my wife eating her meal and then having to wait whilst my pizza was remade and I ate it when delivered. At the prices of the Deck I have to say the size was unexpectedly small and the quality (even of the correctly cooked pizza) was lacking. The bright spot of the visit was the staff - cheerful, funny, couldn't do more to help and, in one case, she was able to predict our choices before we voiced them.

The whole experience was amazing. Polite and helpful staff in the hotel, spa and restaurants. The rooms are beautiful and the building itself is stunning. We stayed for one night, which included use of the spas, which were all amazing and had a nice range of things to do. The food was delicious and there was a lot of variety. We had the best time, it was really relaxing and we couldn’t fault it, even on a rainy day. We will definitely come back and can’t wait to book it again. Thank you!

To start with thankyou for upgrading us upon our arrival to a coastal suite as we were celebrating our ruby wedding anniversary. The staff at breakfast were very attentive always , having time to ask what we were doing that day and to tell us to enjoy ourselves .Reception and concierge always spoke politely and were very helpful.Thankyou for the mints for the journey home a nice touch much appreciated
Coming over from the spa at 7.30pm the lighting was an issue, there are large boulders which could have easily been walked into and a step down into the car park in front of the hotel

It is a beautiful old building in a wonderful setting.
The communal areas felt over busy at times with the hotel being full , it didn’t feel as relaxing as we had hoped .
The food on the Saturday evening didn’t live up to the 5 star rating , I think this was because the hotel was over committed to what it could deliver . However , our disappointment was acknowledged and a very fair solution reached .

The staff were amazing. So lovely and professional, but with a personal touch. It was clean and relaxing. Spa treatment was 10/10. Food in RenMor was delicious.
Every morning we were there, there was no hot water for a shower. When questioned on the first morning, it was a boiler issue that was resolved.. but it happened again the next day at the same time.
I also booked a sea view room, but it was a view of the car park. That was disappointing.

Absolutely beautiful hotel and spa facilities. Lovely staff who couldn't do enough for you.
I was a solo traveler and paid for a cosy room which was absolutely beautiful. However I received little sleep because of a constant humming sound from the industrial fans outside. My room wasn't replenished with fresh water, hot drinks and towels which was quickly resolved after a phone call to reception. Of note the cosy rooms over look brick external walls. There is no information prior to booking about the noise disturbance. I was asked on two occasions by staff 'table for two!" when clearly I was alone. This didn't bother me but I could see it would be a problem for anyone having to travel alone after a divorce or bereavement.

I liked the black pudding & smoked salmon.
Breakfast not in keeping with the standard hotel portrays. Always having to ask for salt & pepper. & sweetners, then wrong tea served, Bacon awful. Always having to put hand up to get attention from staff in restaurant at breakfast different person each time, as they rushed past.

The spa facilities were really lovely and we also used the one inside the hotel. Wonderful. The location was really central and easy to travel around by car. The hotel itself was very grand and eye catching. Lovely staff.
There were only two disabled spaces which were both full upon arrival - so it was tricky to park. Parhaps they could add more onto the left of the entrance. They had quite a few electric spaces. We were given a room above a restaurant, which was exceptionally noisy with the fans in the evening and again, in the morning. Room 31. When we informed staff they knew immediately which area we were in and we asked to switch rooms. Which they did accommodate. Looking at the windows it could have been secondary glazed to avoid this. I wanted a quiet room and paid for a superior room.
The food was below standard in the spa area. I ordered a pizza and the staff didn't understand the order. It came out three times and each time not what I had asked for. So disappointing. In the hotel restaurant we also dined and I don't believe the quality of food or the way it's cooked reflects the prices charged. They forgot to bring sauces and the food was undercooked and rushed.

Only the location of the hotel is amazing, and the spa and pool facility next door which can be used by guests.
When we pay £300+ per night for a 5 star hotel, we expect the room, facilities, service, etc. to be top notch. Very disappointed with everything. Worthless facial and body massage. 30 mins session ended in 10 minutes and if you question, the staff shows irritation and frustration. Facial was like someone is touching with feather, no proper massage, scrub, nothing!! Room was a JOKE. The door handle is so low that an avg height adult has to bend down to open it. No AC coz apparently it is LISTED so we had to use the table fan provided at 32 degress celcius. The room was not anything like what I saw in the photo and booked. Horribly tiny for two people. We were feeling suffocated. Carpets stained, smelly pillow covers, stains everywhere. Like what has qualified this to be a five star hotel?? Do these folks even know what is a five star hotel???? Customer service is not their concern at all. They act like they are doing us a favour. We put our used bathrobes on the floor as they were soiled. The housekeeping put it back on the bed, and when we came back we saw it is wet. When asked, they said we don't change them during the stay even if soiled. Had to request for a change for which the housekeeping made faces and kept grumbling that they don't usually change.....like what is wrong with them?? Please leave hospitality business if you are unable to provide good service. No need to charge people so much and show your frustration. I have so many other things to write but have no motivation to, coz it was such a disappointing experience. I don't know how it has been a high rated hotel.
Attaching some photos of the carpet in the room as soon as we checked in. I am so disappointed that I don't want to attach more photos or write anymore
