Excellent location right next to the train station. Was a very comfortable room, and very clean. Staff was friendly and helpful! Yes, it's an older hotel, but that was part of the charm
I was one floor above the br, so it was a bit noisy...but only until 10, which was fine!

A stones throw from new street station, very good value for the location.
The rooms were too warm.
4.0 / 10.0
The location was ideal for the city centre and the business I was there for.
No breakfast, not even an option. Room and the bedding were clean. However, the window in the room was single glazed and the glass and the frame itself were filthy. The intense traffic noise and the seemingly endless stream of police sirens should at least warrant double glazing I would've expexted?
The bathroom and towels were clean but the floor was uneven and the lino flooring was held together with duct tape. The bath panel and the wet wall were plastered in roughly applied silicone sealer. It did the job I suppose but it just made the whole place look crap and nobody cared.
To finish, the toilet would only flush once and then it was game over for over an hour. It would take over an hour for the cistern to refill because the fill valve was filthy and worn out. On a positive note, the shower hose could reach the cistern so I had to remove the cistern lid and refill it using the shower hose! Not ideal but it was the only way to get the toilet to work. The inside of the cistern was also absolutely filthy and this had obviously been a reported issue many times but they just haven't bothered to fix it.
Along with the constant traffic and general outside noise, there was also some poor soul who had a severe cough in the next room, but it sounded as if he was in my room! Went on the whole night and the next morning so it was a whole night looking at the ceiling.
I've used Choice Group Hotels many times abroad and found them to be of a high standard and hence my decision to book this particular Choice Group hotel for my trip to Birmingham. There is clearly a massive divide of what is deemed acceptable in Europe compared to what is deemed acceptable in the UK.
A lesson learned and never to be repeated. Look elsewhere, even if it's more expensive. This room cost me £110 but I would've had a better night sleeping on the benches in the Grand Central Mall.

Nothing really.

The location was next door to the train station and about 10-15 mins to the museum and square. Which was brilliant due to getting around we found hard due to snow and ice was hard to walk around without failing over. The hotel and room was very clean. There is also a bar in the hotel that shuts at 10pm again that was nice.
The room was very disappointing, it was very basic and the windows are very old and you can hear everything outside and the cold coming through was making the room cold mean shivering in jeans on in bed cold.
The devut was very thin and didn't fit the bed two people in that bed meant 1 person was half missing devuet as it was so small. It's not a place I found where you could go and ask for a single devut so each has Devut, you only got 1 pillow which is fine but they thin. Again I didn't want to go and ask for another pillow. I also had to put the TV to help me relax and the TV had to be scanned by me. Which was fine, but still only one channel without any picture. For the amount I paid was ample I wouldn't want to pay anymore I was disappointed but it did the job and we slept there.

All good here, no complaints.

Excellent location, my room was clean and comfortable, with a double bed, two chairs, and a table as well as bedside tables. I was very impressed by the en suite having a bath as well as a shower, not many hotels have baths these days! Free teabags and coffee sachets were provided with the room. The staff were very pleasant.
The view from my room was not great, but considering the location is directly next to a big train station I don't think it was really possible for it to be much better.

This is basic and slightly battered like staying in somebody's spare room rather than a hotel but once you accept that, it is ok. Bed is sleepable in and at least there is a kettle. Not freezing.
Ceiling tiles had seen worse days though thankfully today was not one of them. Everything is a bit dated.

We required a room with 3 beds for myself and 2 sisters, this was ideal so we could all share a room together.
The hotel is ideally situated across from Birmingham New Street station and not far from the Alexandra Theatre. Although we did not eat at the hotel, there are plenty of places that do food in the station.
The hotel was very warm even with the heating switched off in our room. It was a very mild time for December though and if it had been cold outside we would have appreciated the warmth.

Location
It was dirty, with pubic hair in the bath stains and an unknown substance in the carpet which hadn’t been cleaned. A razor head in the sink, the smell was that of a public toilet. I have stayed in various places including a donkey shed in Afghanistan which was cleaner. I did not feel I could stay with my 13 year old daughter in such a place. When asked to see the manager he had ‘just’ left - I am still waiting on communication from the property and booking.com

Good location, friendly staff, very clean and comfy bed. Accommodated us last minute after a let down host.
Bit of road noise, just bring ear plugs. Could do with a refresh but didn’t bother us
8.0 / 10.0
Clean and comfortable nice decor and had a bath and shower in my room. The bed was spacious and very comfy and there was not much noise considering central location and opposite the train station. Lots of food outlets and massive shopping centres.I will definitely book again.
Not keen on the lift but that's just me so had to use the stairs up to the third floor

Great location and luckily there is parking in the China Town carpark for £8.60 for 24 hours which is much better than other car parks. Car parking is very expensive around this area! Staff were helpful and polite.
Decor is dated but clean

The location
The staff were very pleasant
The curtains had stains on them as did the desk chair.
The bathroom was clean but shower didn’t work .
Plug sockets were missing at the side of the bed and a hole left behind .
The room needed redecorating
Bed was comfy but pillows awful
5.0 / 10.0
A good shower - tv worked. Staff were pleasant and helpful.
The bed was poor, soft mattress and the headboard was loose, only one pillow available with a very inadequate duvet if that is what it was classed as. Room was very small and the decor and fittings very dated. The window had a gap and did not fully close, with windy conditions the wind whistled through the gap all of my second night. When I arrived the room smelt strongly of bleach but it did recede. Overall I was disappointed but stuck with it as I had no real alternative and it was only for 2 nights, I would not use this hotel again though, once bitten as they say.

The location for me was spot on, really close to railway stations. Front staff were very polite
The lift is really old, really small & slow, it defiantly needs replacing. I’ve left really early, no one about. I imagine at check out time you’re going to experience a wait time. Not a fan of wet showers style bathrooms
