We were so disappointed with the hotel. We wasn’t pleased at all. Not nice at all.
The hotel room was cold, no heater on
We showered with lukewarm water
No wifi,
Television can’t come on because of WiFi.

Value for money as quite reasonably priced.
Great location and had a gym
Quite disorganised. Sent me to a dirty room after waiting quite a while. Charged me twice which I had to sort out.

Staff fab property needs taking care of.
Staff were lovely. They had had 3 parties the night before and hadn't caught up. Having listened to the general managers phone call on Monday morning I now know they had one staff member unable to come in and another staff supervisor go home sick 2 days running during a shift. The staff were polite. Looked after our luggage before check in and after check out. Nothing was to much for them. Polite smiling and kind.
Check in time later than said on email. Room was still not ready when we did eventually check in. Tv remote didn't work. Reception changed batteries still didn't work. Room was not hoovered and had a curry smell to it. A hand towel and a bath sheet were in the wardrobe. Not enough for 2 people. One single bed mattress dipped in the middle. The lift was out of service.

Quiet and peaceful stay in ideal location
The location is ideal, right next to the train and bus station and next to St George's Hall. In the room that I was allocated the heating was not working, so I was immediately upgraded to another room.
The rooms are spacious, clean and tidy, with ensuite bath and shower. The Hotel is in the quieter part of town, so you won't be disturbed by external noise.
The staff are very polite and friendly and only too pleased to help.
Everything was good

Poor communication, bedbug infestation
The location is good for events at Bradford Live
My friend and I came away from the stay with several bedbug bites, confirmed by the doctor. We needed antibiotics to treat it and have been left with unsightly and highly uncomfortable bites 2 weeks on.
The hotel have been incredibly slow to respond to messages about this. I have had no confirmation as to what they have done about the issue (for people staying there in future) or whether they are willing to refund our booking- given it has cost us more in medication than we paid for the room!
The room was 212.

Unfriendly or concerned staff. Dirty incomplete room. Wouldn't stay again.
We liked the location for what we needed.
We had an event at Bradford Live. 3 minute walk away.
The hotel staff. Gentleman at reception did not listen to me when I provided feedback on our booking experience.
Our room was dirty. We had no toilet roll. We had one towel between 2 people. I called down to reception for nearly half an hour and no one answered. I had to go down myself. We were on the 3rd floor. The lift was broken. No mention of this prior to arrival. I asked for the same floor as my family, I was told there was no space, only for the 3 couple behind me to be given that floor.
I was told 3 to 4 minutes for towel. 1 hour later, no towels and they weren't there when we go back at 10:30 pm. Bathroom floor was dirty also. Shower didn't drain efficiently. 20 minutes after showering, bath still full of water.

Great location and beautiful historical building
Lovely old building
Good location
Pleasant staff
Comfortable bed
TV didn't work efficiently with no connection to WiFi (despite it saying there was WiFi available). TV stopped working completely the subsequent morning of our stay.
Initially allocated room poorly designed with TV situated in a far corner which made watching TV in bed virtually impossible. (We were given an alternative room when we pointed this out).
Lift was out of order.
Room telephone didn't work so we had to make multiple trips up and down the stairs to Reception.
No cold water pressure in bathroom sink - barely a drip.
Room service/bar menu missing many of the items listed.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY - ABSOLUTELY AWFUL SERVICE
The first room had no remote control and the maintenance couldn't fix the issue - Moved to a smaller room and the bathroom ceiling and wall was covered in Black Mold
The disgusting service from the General Manager - The lifts were out of order and they have a hotel policy where you have to pay a pre paid £50 on arrival - The GM told me if you don't like i will cancel your booking in a confrontational manner

Overpriced, tired facilities with complacent staff
It was a place to sleep, and the bed was comfortable enough.
Noise transfer between rooms was terrible - I could hear literally everything from the room next door. The lift was broken, not great for upper floor rooms. The staff were rude and unfriendly. The catering for our event was dreadful, with zero attempt to identify allergens or provide for dietary requirements.

Very basic room and not very clean
Location
No lifts working and on 2nd floor, lots of dust in room, fixed shower head and weak flow shower, bed uncomfortable, mattress very firm and felt uneven. Breakfast not worth money.

Very rude manager
The manager on the night I arrived was so rude I never knew that I had to pay a £50 deposit n that had to be paid on a credit or debit card I had only £39.50 in my account (debit card) n the rest I had cash the manager refused to give me my booked room if I didn’t pay the deposit I said look at the time it was 23.30 on Thursday night were was I going to find a bank that I can deposit the remaining cash so my account is £50 so I can pay the deposit in the end I had to beg someone to transfer me £11 so I can pay the £50 deposit the person who transferred me the £11 charged me £20 to transfer the money into my account. The manager wouldn’t listen to what I was trying to say all he kept saying was no deposit no room simple just think if I was a female would he behave like that kick a female out into the cold raining night. When I booked the hotel there was no mention of £50 deposit if I knew I would have booked for 1 night n I would have had money on my debit card to pay the £50 deposit. Such a shame the hotel’s has manager who is rude n who wouldn’t listen to what I was saying I will never ever book the hotel again n I will be telling everyone to avoid this hotel.

Jinesh is a legend ⭐
Jinesh on reception is a credit to your hotel, he is a very helpful young man, polite and approachable and I think he deserves a pay rise!! And cake! 🎂
Hairdryer broken in the room, plug for the bath also broken and unable to hold the water in the bath. Tb remote faulty and would work at times and then it wouldn't.

Not sure if I would stay again, if I'm being completely honest...
The service is great. Aqsa deserves a special shout out; she was quick, accommodating and quickly resolved a serious issue I had with my room. She needs a specific commendation.
The area is quite good and central, and the breakfast was okay. In addition the general decor is quite picturesque.
Overall, the best thing about the place is the staff and general Victorian decor.
The room. The first time I stayed there, the room did not look like the pictures. At all. And this time it was the same. Even though I was sorted out in general, this is a problem. If I want a large room with a big bathtub in the middle, that's what I should get. Management should get their advertisement right - the rooms should at least be a similar size and decor to what you're advertising. The reality is too far from the images.
The bed was also terrible. For one of the upgraded rooms, I was shocked that the bed had springs essentially poking into my back. That was not great at all. It was a hard couple of nights.
Finally, there is no elevator. Seriously think about this if you're looking at one of the higher floors. It is NOT an easy climb. Would be nice to know when this starts working again.

Not happy!

Bar was closed at 10pm so couldn’t get no drinks . I changed room 3 times no smart tv.. then carpet was damp after the cleaner came to wash the carpets no lift is a killer!

Would not recommend
Good location
Dirty, beds were uncomfortable, mould on the ceiling above shower, carpet in bedroom was filthy- clearly had not been vacuum cleaned. Staff were unhelpful and the £50 ‘deposit’ for it to be refunded to your account 10-14 days after your stay is a joke. I get you need to hold a deposit but why charge and then refund. It should just be ‘held’ and if there are no breakages/unpaid extras.

Would come again.
Ideally situated for us, near the train station but also close to the centre. We loved the old-fashioned world charm of the building, but the facilities were up-to-date .
The lift did not work. Difficult when you find stairs a problem.
Our window would not open. Lack of attention to detail in some areas.

A fairly bog standard hotel
The housekeeping was very good - the room was spotless.
It was just a fairly bog standard room - and what I would expect from a hotel room in Bradford. The main issues/problems were - the receptionist seemed disinterested wasn't really bothered (gentleman with glasses) the lift wasn't working and he didn't apologise it is just the norm apparently. The pillows were really thin/poor and the bar closed early cos it was quiet. All in all just bog standard.

Apart from breakfast there is nothing worth writing about .
Breakfast couldn't fault it
No lift been out of order for at least 6 Months and none of the staff knew when it would be fixed.the interior of the room was in a sorry state ,carpet patched no carpet in base of wardrobe .no restaurant for a proper evening meal and no draft beer of any kind

Not so Grand these days
Great central location
Restaurant closed permanently. Bar not open on Mondays apparently according to staff. So why take a holding deposit when you can spend it!? Rooms are tired and carpets are disgusting in the rooms, bring flip flops! Bedding and bathroom clean. Mattresses need updating.

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING!
The location is spot on very close to the interchange/city centre. Cleanliness very good. Staff in the main good. Room size good. Attractive building. St Georges Hall 'next door' Millennium square / town hall very close easy reach of Alhambra and photography museum and curry restaurants of course...
There wasn't an operational lift, apparently this resulted in a discounted price, which for anyone with mobility issues is of NO USE whatsoever, ALL rooms had to be accessed by stairs. There appeared to be a problem with the soft wear system check in /out etc also. Apparently the lift issue has gone on for some time and is going to last. I don't wish to be 'considered' as disabled in anyway but I have health issues and climbing ANY stairs is NOT good for me... I ALWAYS prefer a high floor so lifts are essential. Breakfast was OK but very predictable, coffee and tea on offer all served in poorly labelled flasks. Continental breakfast none existent, NO COLD MEATS OR CHEESE. All in all despite apparent discounted price a very disappointing experience. I WOULD EXPECT A FULL REFUND ON THIS OCCASION. All a pity really with such a place oozing with character and history

Avoid at all cost!
Nothing
This was by far the worst hotel experience I've ever had. We checked in as a group and were immediately put off when one of the rooms was found to have bed bugs. Since we had arrived late, I decided to give the benefit of the doubt and check our own room to see if it was at least suitable to stay in.
Unfortunately, it was not. The room reeked of sewage. We complained to the staff, and they responded by spraying extremely strong chemicals in an attempt to mask the smell. However, the odour persisted, clearly indicating a drainage issue rather than something that could be fixed with air freshener.
When I returned to speak to the manager, he lied, claiming they had poured something down the drain to cause the smell and insisted the room was fine. I explained that due to the intense chemical fumes, I couldn’t even breathe in the room as an adult — let alone allow my 2-month-old baby to stay there. His response was aggressive, rude, and included passive-aggressive remarks and threatening behaviour.
Thankfully, a staff member named Orlando showed some understanding and upgraded us to another room. However, this new room was also unclean and had no working electrical sockets.
At this point, it was nearly 1 AM. We had been trying to check in for over an hour after a 6-hour journey with a newborn, and I had reached my limit. We left the hotel and found alternative accommodation.
Despite the terrible experience, the hotel refused to issue a refund and continued to be unhelpful and unprofessional throughout.
I strongly urge others to avoid this place. It is unsafe, unhygienic, and poorly managed.

DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU HAVE MOBILITY ISSUES
Breakfast was good .
Location is excellent.
The hotel looks great
THERE IS NO LIFT.
Its been out of action for some time and is not acceptable.
They do not warn you in advance
What is the point of a ramp to allow access to reception if there is no way of reaching the floors with bedrooms.
Reception staff seem more interested in their mobile phones than the customer.
Clearly the owners have no concept of promoting the hotel as the place to stay in Bradford, the City of culture.
I doubt they have that many rooms available to stay in.
They choose to waste their money on things such as extractor fans running 24hrs a day.
A disappointing stay.

Poor, disappointed
Location
Very disappointing stay. They only gave us one towel even though there were two of us. I saw bugs in the bathroom, the water pressure was poor, the TV didn’t work, and the lift was out of order. We were meant to stay for 2 nights but ended up leaving after 1 because of how bad it was. Definitely not worth the money.

If was ok but terrible for taking suitcase up and down strairs with no lifts
Location
Lifts still not fixed, hotel is very run down beds and mattresses are really old, not fridge facilities available it’s such a shame because this could be a really great hotel if it was maintained properly and attract more clients

The building seems to be going downhill ( I have known this property for 60 years, as I was born in Bradford.
Central city position.Free car parking.

Breakfast mediocre for £14 AND I was charged twice!! I am still trying to retrieve my money!

Exhausted walking up the steps as the lift didn’t work ruined my whole experience
The building it’s self was nice
I didn’t like that fact I had to walk 96 steps to my room, the room I booked was a superior room but you couldn’t swing a cat in it more like a attick bedroom

Lovely hotel but slightly missed the mark on a few elements
Lovely hotel and helpful staff. Great location.
A few things were missing: no fridge or mini bar in penthouse room; main bar was badly stocked, no tequila and Corona ran out after only a few bottles

Lovely stay at Great Victoria
The hotel was clean, friendly staff members and very helpful as well. The room was very spacious
The lift was not working, so had to use stairs to fourth floor
6.0 / 10.0
Ok for the price but wouldn’t advise the 4th floor.
Good location
We were put on the 4th floor up in the eaves, lift wasn’t working and it was like a sauna up there. Room looked like it hadn’t been refurbished since 1990 and like we were up in the servants room.
