Room too hot Bed too hard Pillows no filling and hard Prank telephone call from reception early hours of the morning as the reception was not manned, so people from the party were making prank phone calls Absolutely disgusted

Great value, unique experience.

Really great value for the room, beautiful interiors especially in the lobby and library. Main restaurant was closed but food was served in library and was excellent. Very friendly staff.

Some areas a bit tired but looks like there's renovations going on. Bathroom was a little dated compared to the rest of the room.

The downstairs of the hotel is very nice,and the staff very friendly at reception and in the resturant,food was very good

The rooms are very dated and really do need an upgrade quite grubby and old fashioned .The curtains and bedding need replacing, but the bedding was clean,had a wait in the bar for service and wasn't very friendly when they did come.

Only one night but pleasant and good value for money.

The room was large, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was first class.

In common with many hotels there was very little room to put washing and shaving equipment razor, water pick, tooth brush etc. I ended up putting it in the bath.

Would thoroughly recommend if staying in Felixstowe.

I was upgraded to a suite, which was huge. Bed really comfortable. The restaurant (Elephant and Barrel) served one of the best curries I have tasted outside of India. Breakfast was an excellent choice of cooked and continental.

Great Hotel, good location for my work, very good value for money, Staff very polite and helpful. I've stayed here multiple times, and have always had a very positive experience. No complaints at all, will definitely return if working in the area again.

Polite and friendly hotel

The Orwell Hotel building and the addition of the life like Elephant. The staff were very helpful and polite. This hotel is only a walk away from many shops and restaurants. It was good that the Hotel had a bar and restaurant. Housekeeping maid for our room was first class.

The Orwell Hotel was very hot, even with the windows open all night and the room heaters turned off. It was so hot we had to use the fan which was supplied in the room. We were in room 125 and the people in the adjoining room woke us up at 3:30am with noise of banging and water rushing. This was for over 1hr. The second night it started earlier about 12:30 till 2am in the morning. The third night was better it started at 9pm so by the time we went to sleep there was no noise.

A great location, in a quiet town

I somehow managed to book two rooms?? The guy at reception upgraded us to a suite to smooth the issue somewhat, which was a nice gesture. The suite was large, and very quiet and dark for sleeping on a lovely bed. We had a bath and a shower, although the bathroom looked a little tired, as does the hotel in certain areas but it has a lot of character. The bar prices were surprisingly reasonable for a hotel.

Harry’s Bar was almost empty at 2100 on Saturday night, and the music was far too loud , especially if it was awful, which it was. At no point did anybody ask us if we would like to add breakfast to our stay, nor did we see anything advertising it, or the cost.

Awful.

The elephant outside, it seemed like it was the only thing that worked. Maybe if they had spent the money on plumbing & not on this they may have guests that enjoyed their stay.

No heating or hot water in our room. Staff that didn't care, no customer service skills whatsoever. Manager not available to speak to until Monday rang today (Monday) they are not now in until Thursday, the whole stay was appalling.

Lovely as usual

Love this hotel, staff are all friendly but Rob is fab!! Had a few niggles this visit, wrong room allocated, was sorted in minutes, no heating but was equipped with an electric heater which did the job, no hot water in room all weekend. We will definitely be back When they re-open after the heating is sorted

mechatronic elephant in the garden can be heard in the room (205) that operates 8am to circa 9/10pm on a motion sensor . Tv didn’t work. Mattresses very clunky and soft.

A nice old hotel with a lot of potential: needs some maintenance by the new management.

Good-sized rooms and it was great to have a nice bar on site. Overall, the hotel was a little smarter than we'd been expecting.

The top floor heating didn't work, on a very cold night (we heard others complain about this at reception too). We were provided with a small plug-in heater, which was quite effective. Also, our door wouldn't lock, although the staff moved us to a different room quickly to resolve this.

Pleasant weekend in Felixtowe.

spacious and clean room which was excellent value for the money.

We would have preferred it to be Dog friendly so we could have stayed longer and we saw some great dog walks from the location.

Overnight stay for social event in town.

Lovely old building. Enjoyed the bar areas in the past, so took the opportunity to experience the hotel rooms.

Lack of proper heating in room. May have been some technical issue, but to put us in a room without central heating working in December & without any advance notification or explanation was unacceptable. Fortunately this December has been exceptionally mild, so didn't cause major discomfort, but poor practice on the part of hotel management.

Room disappointing more like a hostel than a hotel room.

Location was excellent. Bed was comfortable.

No carpet on the bedroom floor. No mirror in the bedroom, no wardrobe and not even a hook so no way to hang up a coat. The room was poor, all painted white, spotlights so harsh lighting and no pictures on the wall. I asked the receptionist when we checked out what made our room a superior room which we paid extra for she didn’t know but said someone would email me to explain. No one has emailed.

Don't stay if you feel the cold!

I stayed here for 2 weekends in a row as I had practical assessments to undertake for a course I was studying. Lovely hotel and the location was perfect

It was absolutely FREEZING! It was November and both weekends the heating wasn't turned on. Instead, there was a tiny plug in heater in the room. The first weekend was chilly, but passable. The second weekend, however was absolutely freezing, despite keeping the heater on all night. The bathroom was so cold, I couldn't bear to have a shower! It's such a shame as the hotel is lovely apart from that.

Disappointed

No breakfast offered despite being Genius level

Booking. Com allocated us a twin room despite booking a Double. Had to ask for extra pillows. The room we finally got had no central heating..... Just a plug in. When we went out for the evening the room went cold as controlled by the key card. Stay too pricey for the standard of room..... If there was breakfast included would be a better deal. Always an issue at the Orwell.
