Great pet friendly hotel

We enjoyed everything. We travel a lot with our dog and this was definitely one of the most pet friendly hotels in which we stayed. There is even a wall with pictures of the dog-guests. They also had bowls, snacks and even a huge pillow for our dog to use (our dog is quite big). Furthermore, the hotel is great, very clean, the room was big and comfortable and the personnel very, very kind. Location is also great as it is close to all the main tourist attractions.

The location is really great, close to many shops and facilities, we did everything walking, but in the night the hotel surroundings seemed a bit shady. We didn't have any concrete problems and we would definitely stay there again anyway, but still this is worth to mention.

Excellent for the Aachen and other nearby Christmas markets

Great location, walking distance to the historic centre. Lots of parking available and close to the bus station. A lot of places to eat nearby. The bathroom had a bathtub, which was really nice after being outside all day. And the rituals shampoo and soap were an unexpected surprise.

Good location and breakfast but could use some cleaning and updating

Great location, less than a 10 minute walk to the main Christmas markets. The breakfast was fantastic and the staff friendly.

The hallway to our room had a very strong pee smell. We arrived 15 minutes prior to check in and had to wait on our room. The room could use a little work. There were pretty visible stains on the walls but otherwise it was clean. There was also a severe lack of plugs.

Hotel was ok for a short stay, nothing special

The room was clean, and staff was friendly and helpfull. Central location in Aachen and easy to reach by car.

Breakfast was too expensive (26 euro per person per day) and was very basic. Fitness also very basic, only a few pieces of equipment.

Excellent value for money, great location, fantastic staff — a very good basic hotel.

The room was very clean and had everything we needed — toiletries and kettle and tea, etc. The breakfast was excellent and the staff were absolutely brilliant — nothing was too much for them.

The shampoo and body wash in the bathroom were not checked, so we had very little when we arrived and had to get mini bottles from reception. Also, I expected the bottle of water to be replaced every day but it wasn’t. Neither were the teabags we used.

Affordable stay at budget hotel with good breakfast

The staff were excellent and helpful, the breakfast was fresh with lots of options and it was good value for money.

The hotel (like many in Germany) allow dogs. Our room, even through the cleaning was immaculate, smelt like dog. Also the aircon didn’t work well and was on and off during the night and day. I raised with reception, who was very apologetic, however she said that if it’s 24 degrees outside the aircon shuts off. That’s ok, but when it’s boiling inside the room it doesn’t make sense - perhaps a cost saving measure? Also the area wasn’t the best - lots of crazies and druggies around the place and down the side of the hotel street. I know that’s life in the big city but it just seemed very prevalent around there!

Very small room. I booked a room with a refrigerator but when I checked in I didn’t find one in the room. I went to the reception and complained about it and they changed the room

It's not the hotel's responsibility but I do have to mention that the parking underneath is a bit shady at night, had a situation where my ticket did not work and there were a few people under the influence roaming around that did not make me feel very safe.

Perfect hotel in the city center

Perfect hotel in the city centre. Everything was in a walkable distance and the breakfast was superb. The parking although it does not belong to the hotel it is under the hotel, and with an elevator, you go inside the hotel directly. Keep in mind that you have to pay for the parking separately.

Modern Hotel with pleasant staff near the city centre

Hotel was modern and clean with a pleasing frontage. On arrival and throughout our short stay the staff were pleasant, polite and helpful. The breakfast was of a good variety and there was a plentiful supply of differing options. The facilities such as the bar and restaurant were all of a good standard. Rooms were comfortable and of a modern decor with a view of PeterStrasse below. It was a relatively short walk into the city centre where there were many local shops and recognised German chains and outlets.

I did see in earlier feedbacks about concerns around undesirable persons in the vicinity and particularly the underground car park used by the guests. I used the car park and in the evening returned to my car to find a shady looking character sat on the floor infront of a car parked against the wall. He obviously wasn't the vehicle owner. I moved my car to park it next to the hotel lift entrance where thankfully it wasn't damaged/broken into. There were notices in the hotel in German & English warning vehicle owners to ensure no valuables were left visible in their cars. It also stated that the Polizei and car park owners were aware. Walking in neighbouring streets there were one or two undesirable persons/beggars but I would guess that is true of many modern western cities. I can't say at any point I felt unsafe walking in Aachen city. To be fair to the hotel they are not actually responsible for the car park which is a public one under the hotel and neither can they have any control upon who is on the streets.

Hotel was ok, reception staff were dreadful, but their manager was apologetic and professional.

Hotel was clean and comfortable, no frills.

The stay was without fuss or event until that last day when we went to check out. We came across a member of staff at reception who was clearly having a very bad day. She was incredibly rude and insulted us personally. However, her manager was very kind and professional and made up for her bad behaviour. He was very apologetic, genuinely so. I was very reluctant to write a review of this sort as there is always a retort or an excuse from the hotel as to why they are not at fault, but if this helps one person, it is worth writing. The matter was dealt with at the time by the manager, so I feel ok about the event, but we will never return to a Novotel as a result.

Novotel offers price quality as usual. No special frills but comfortable hotel rooms, luxurious breakfasts and a good location to visit Aachen. You can park underground, easy acces to hotel lobby with the elevator.

Nice clean modern hotel in a great location with friendly staff

We stayed over for one night during our Europen holiday. Modern hotel, very clean and we were happy with the rooms. We had two twin rooms next to each other. They had car parking available under the hotel, was extra but wasn't too expensive (14 euro per day). We didn't try breakfast at the hotel as there were good bakeries nearby serving fresh German pastries and breads.
