    Everything about this hotel is great, especially breakfast. I recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to just sleep in or explore the city. It’s not near attractions, but it’s near the station so that’s good.

    I had a really bad experience the first and second night I stayed in Hotel Berlin. I woke up around 1am to the feeling of insects crawling over my body only to turn on the light to see about 5 bedbugs, some around the pillow and others already making their way to the centre of the bed. I was really alarmed as this wasn't what I expected to see in a hotel as big as Hotel Berlin. Unfortunately I had already unpacked my suitcase which in itself was terrifying because I wasn't sure how many bedbugs had made their way into my belonging, lifting the mattress topper and the bedsheet, I could see more bedbugs going about their business. I immediately rang the Guest Care Centre to report the incidence. The staff on duty promised to swap rooms for me, he showed up about 5 minutes later but you could tell he wasn't surprised or alarmed by my report. That action and the action of the Guest Care Centre staff I complained to clearly showed they were aware of this problem which leaves me to wonder how long they have had this problem. In anycase, I requested my clothings to be washed which they agreed to. Despite changing rooms that night at about 2am, I just couldn't have any deep sleep because I kept imagining more bedbugs will creep out of their hiding place. I won't normally sleep with the lights on, but for fear of providing a dark environment for bedbug activities, I left my light on which meant I just couldn't rest well. I was also waking up at interval to look around the bed. The first two nights there were unfortunately unsettling for me. For a hotel this big, they should be able to close up for a day or two for intensive industrial fumigation to help get rid of the bugs. This is very disappointing to say the least, more is expected from Hotel Berlin!
