The breakfast was great.
The location was perfect for us as we wanted to be out of town- near the water and near the sights.

Orkneylodge is in a quiet location overlooking the Bay of Houton and close to the jetty for the Hoy ferry. A warm welcome from Lorraine on arrival, with advice on places to eat and things to do during our stay on the island. This is room only accommodation, so you do need transport to get to a cafe or restaurant for meals.

We were met on arrival by the owner who was very nice . Entry & exit to the property are via a door code so we didn't see him again during our stay. Our room was large, light & clean. Free Wi-Fi is available.
This property could be fantastic even though it's next to a small ferry terminal which does nothing for first impressions as you drive through the ferry parking area to reach the property. Still the location could be considered characteristic.
Unfortunately, the cheerfully decorated room, was the only thing that was cheerful.
The dining/breakfast area & winter sunroom lounge were all closed off which was such a pity especially as there is nothing close by for breakfast or dinner.
