The Dilly

We stayed at The Dilly from 6 August and had an excellent experience overall. We arrived early and were kindly given our room at around 12:00 noon, which we greatly appreciated. All the staff were friendly, polite and extremely helpful, especially Melanie. Two days after check-in, she personally asked whether we were comfortable. I explained that everything was fine, but the room felt rather gloomy because of the dark-blue décor, black curtains and the poor view overlooking ongoing work outside. Melanie immediately offered to do her best to arrange another room for us, and she followed through. Two days later, she moved us to a lovely room on the eighth floor with a beautiful view. The room felt newer, brighter and very clean, with much more pleasant colours. The only small issue was that the air conditioning in the new room was not as powerful as in the first room. However, the team quickly provided us with an additional portable cooling unit, which helped, and we were able to enjoy the rest of our stay comfortably. Another thoughtful gesture came from the Duty Manager. Our room move was delayed by approximately one hour, and although I did not complain, we received a lovely gift and a handwritten apology. This was a very kind and proactive gesture that showed how much the hotel cares about its guests. The best things about The Dilly are its fantastic central location, the helpful and welcoming staff, the reception service and the excellent sense of safety throughout the hotel. A big thank you to the entire team, and especially to Melanie for her genuine care and outstanding assistance. We would happily stay at The Dilly again and highly recommend it.

Lovely hotel in an old listed building The Executive King Room I had was great! Paul the Doorman and Heather in the housekeeping department were particularly helpful and friendly. Very nice room service food, and great cocktails in Madhu's of Mayfair.

Nice facilities, but a bit dated. Rooms need touch-ups. Mediocre breakfast. Friendly staff.

The rooms are not as described as there wasn't a city view at all. The windows you can't even see out of as frosted. I even emailed prior to make sure it was a city view. The carpets are heavily stained. The rooms have no light coming in and paired with the dark paint are very dark rooms. They have the towel rails set to come on with heat even in the summer and you couldn't turn them off. The small bathroom was really hot. We mentioned this and that our vent in there wasn't working which they said they'd get someone to look at but noone came. 🤷 We also asked to be put in a quieter part of the hotel but were put with families with small children who were running up and down corridors until midnight screaming. We weren't welcomed into the hotel by a guard or anyone and had to find the check in ourself. It was very blunt and noone offered to take our bags. We booked this hoping for a bit of luxury but it was very disappointing. The shower wasn't very good over the bath with hardly any power. The only good parts were the location and comfy beds although some sheets had holes in. We wished we booked another hotel. It also has people slamming doors until early hours in the morning which isn't ideal for exploring the next day.
