Our stay at the Dog and Partridge was as good as expected from the posiitve reviews I had read. The building really does have the authentic charm of a 15th century Inn with its half timbered construction and beautifully furnished rooms. We were in Room 9 which is up on the top floor but the ascent up the stairs was easily manageble for us and any low beams on the way were cushion-protected to spare our heads. The fixtures and fittings were not dated at all, contrary to the descriptions by other negative reviewers and were appropriately 'modern'. The room was spacious with a lovely bright bathroom and everywhere felt and looked clean and fresh, the bed really comfortable, TV worked great and the WiFi excellent. We slept well and breakfast in the morning was delicious; I had the veggie full breakfast and my partner the eggs benedict. There is a large parking area at the back of the Inn surrounded by lovely trees, full of birds singing their hearts out. Tutbury is a very pretty village and a pleasure to walk around on a beautiful April Spring day.

Food was excellent, staff were all friendly
I didn’t realise the room was located in the attic with no lift access. Based on the hotel photos, I expected the room to be a little larger than the one I stayed in.

Traditional old hotel in a great location. Spacious carpark. Pleasant staff. Comfortable bed.
Having stay here a number of times in the past it was disappointing to see this beautiful old building looking rather tired. The bedroom was in need of refurbishment and a deep clean. The bathroom was scruffy with mould around the bath.
Check in was unfortunately very poor as we had to wait 20 minutes for some unknown reason. Come on Greene King refurbish this lovely old hotel. It deserves it!
