A comfortable stay with good amenities

There was a welcome pack with freshly baked bread ground and baked on site. The bed was very comfortable Everything we needed for self catering was there.

The dishes and a wooden spoon were dirty with food dried on. The cooker ovens and roasting pans were blackened

We looked forward to coming “home” to Mill Lodge , tired after days out sightseeing.

Mill Lodge is directly opposite the Burcott Mill country inn. We knew this when we booked. This suited us because (when the need arose) we could put the car away and spend an enjoyable (and very welcoming) evening with home cooked food and local ale. The road that Mill Lodge is on is usually a quiet country B road. Unfortunately, when we were there, there were roadworks on the main road so people were using the otherwise quiet country road (that Mill Lodge is close to) as a “cut through” to avoid road works/tailbacks. However, this is obviously temporary - don’t let this put you off booking Mill Lodge. Forgot to mention the “welcoming” pack….especially the GORGEOUS loaf of bread (made with flour from the mill, literally next door!!

Nothing really…..however, the stone steps up to the (first floor) front door may be difficult if you have mobility issues.

The welcome pack was a great package to find, a really thoughtful idea. The bed was super comfy. All in all a great place that was super clean and very relaxing. The pub opposite selling good beer and food was a added bonus.

A perfect quiet place to stay & short walk to hub & pub

The accommodation was great, situation perfect, hosts very friendly & great freshly baked bread to purchase. Will hope to stay again in the future

Perhaps a pint of milk would be good as check in not until 4pm & village hub closes at 3pm so had to go with out until next day.

Burcott Mill Lodge, in a very historic setting, provided an excellent base to visit local attraction

An unusual property in part of a listed watermill. The owners were were very welcoming and took up round the apartment. The apartment was clean and the bed was very comfy. The bonus was freshly made wholemeal bread made with their own milled flour. Delicious!! The pub across the road served good food and cask ales from Cheddar Ales. the location was good , very close to Wells and near a heritage railway and 'strawberry valley'.

There wasn't a lot of storage for clothes, a small wardrobe with hanging space and 1 shelf, perhaps some drawers on the landing where there was space.

Restful relaxing and lovely people who owned it

It was set in a beautiful place good parking ,roomey, you could pay for breakfast if you wanted , you could sit out the back and chill with a class of drink, they had some cute Guinea pigs as well. We spent 3 days there but would love to go back for a bit longer, also they make great bread from their working milk, and they sell the flour if you want to make your own, the bread was so soft and tasty . Also there are 2 pubs with lovely food in walking distance.

Quite well equipped but dark with lots of road traffic noise.

The property was spacious and fairly well equipped and had all we needed for our stay. The shower was powerful enough and having a bath was an added bonus. Car parking was plentiful. The guinea pigs were delightful.

The property was very dark inside due to the small windows, its an old building so nothing can be done about that. We found the constant traffic noise extremely intrusive, from early to late. Because of the noise it was impossible to open the windows and we slept very poorly. The lack of a seal around the front door made it draughty and let more noise in, a heavy curtain and a seal may help. The zip together bed was comfy enough but the Quilt for some reason sounded like a crisp packet when we moved. A basic welcome pack of basic items to get through the first night eg bread, butter, milk is pretty standard these days but there was nothing at all here. We thought there might be at least a sample of the bread baked on the premises but no. In summary it was a useful base for days out but not somewhere to spend any time.

Lovely accommodation

Lovely accommodation, excellent location. Ideal for day trips to Glastonbury, Wells, Burnham on Sea, Wookey Hole caves. Very friendly owner, cute guinea pigs and cat :)

Absolutely fantastic, definitely a place we would return if staying in the area again.

The lodge is in a stunning location with great access to the surrounding area. Louise and Steve were lovely and friendly and the apartment itself was wonderful. Wells, Glastonbury, Brean, Weston are all very accessible from Wookey and Wells centre can be walked in 30 minutes. In addition to all the great places to visit this means that whether you want to eat out or get food in you have loads of options on your doorstep. Unlike a hotel once you've been out and about for the day it was like coming back and having all the luxuries of home. Loved every minute.

A cosy self contained home from home.

A real home from home. Very comfortable property and a great base to explore Wookey, Wells, Cheddar, Glastonbury and the surrounding areas. The property is spacious, very clean and well kept with all the amenities for a comfortable break. Was really nice to have a separate lounge area for relaxing after a long day out exploring.

We would stay here again

Self-catering unit was extremely warm. Comfortable bed (2 singles together). Hot shower on demand with shampoo/gel included. Across the road from a traditional pub (Cheddar "Gorge Best" and Hopback "Summer Lightning" for the ale lovers). Flour available to buy.

No real issues. A thick curtain across the front door would be ideal. Some traffic noise but this largely ceases overnight. Freezer compartment of fridge was small but fine for a few nights. Bedroom is a bit of a tight space (we put our bags/suitcases upstairs).

Number of National Trust properties (of interest to us) within the area. Three pubs within walking distance. Very pleasant- I used to live in the area, and it was ideal for seeing friends

Spacious, good bathroom, comfortable bed, good position for town and visiting friends.

Dark - the lights need improvement. No welcoming details- tea bags, milk in the fridge, that sort of thing. I have five holiday lets myself and one city studio flat - we would never leave a property unprovided with a cloth to wipe up, kitchen roll, and those little extras that can be so important after a long drive or flight. No one wants to bring their own salt and pepper …

Well equipped and very comfortable. WiFi was excellent as there is no mobile signal in the area. Smart TV a bonus. Kitchen fully equipped. Nice bathroom, shower and bath. Plenty of hot water.

Location was a great spot to explore Somerset and the property was perfect in every sense for us. Was met by hosts to be given the keys on arrival and were so friendly and helpful. Wish we could of stayed longer, we will be back.

Mill lodge

Easy to find with off road parking. Accommodation was clean and comfortable, well equipped and a high standard. Located within walking distance to local pubs and a 10 minute drive into Wells. Hosts were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend

A nicely appointed character appartment in a good location.

Comfortable bed, well equipped kitchen and plenty of space. Very interesting property with character, located in a working watermill where they mill flour and bake fresh bread - if you are in when they are milling you'll know! Good location for exploring Wells, which is in walking distance or Glastonbury, and the Somerset coast a short drive away. Convenient pub directly across the road too.

The property is adjacent to the B3139 so there is occasionally some traffic noise but I didn't find this irksome and it's quiet at night.
