Great location! Really lovely property, just streamline your check in and do some hoovering!

The house was booked through a holiday management company which over communicated emails through this platform in my opinion. This cluttered my inbox with unnecessary information. The key collection was a bit stressful as no info was given and a phone number to coordinate on arrival. After trying for a day prior I couldn't get a response from the number. Not really their fault as it's a UK number that I believe didn't accept wifi calls. So a technical issue was the reason I couldn't get through. However this still left me stranded and stressed while I tried for hours to track someone down. Their offices were closed on Sunday, however after messaging through their emergency line I finally got someone to respond to me on wassap. They contacted the owner and I got the lock box code thru Wassap. They could have just send the lock box code in one of their 10 emails about check in. Or provided another way to reach the owner. I'm sure I'm not the only international traveler using Wifi calling. Finally the house was really wonderful, comfortable and suited my needs however I spent a few hours with the hoover cleaning cobwebs, dust and killing spiders on my arrival. The home really needs a deep clean and better turn around cleaning to manage the above. Its a beautiful property and you can tell the owner really cares. On the surface it was very clean but you could tell no one had taken the effort to look up, or move anything and wipe around object, furniture etc.

Historic property let down by managed neglect & lack of respect for others

No parking is available at the property, Sainsbury's car park @ a minute away.

Property let down by what can only be described as managed neglect, i.e. every part has not been properly cleaned for a long period of time. We chose ensuite room, however, we had to strip the bed inc mattress cover to wash first due to large urine stain/animal hairs (thankfully we had our sleeping bags.). We had chosen not to use either front bedroom as it was obvious they were not clean + bedding old, well past it’s best, not even changed as outlined above. On Sunday, we undertook a general clean from top to bottom inc moving lounge furniture - everywhere thick dust-spiders webs inc curtains, all surfaces. Hoover was full to bursting emitting a disgusting smell, NEVER been changed. Found one clean replacement hoover bag leaving the other greasy stained replacement bag under sink. TV Netflix not always available due to others apparently using account. Both shower basin outlets full of thick black hairs & other dubious material which caused the shower water to back up. However, once cleared and cleaned, that issue disappeared. No shaving socket/adaptor to use. On arrival, bottom of kitchen sink taps/front part were covered in thick brown matter. Toaster overloaded with old toasted breadcrumbs, NEVER emptied. Kettle required cleaning which took 3x descaling sachets to remove ingrained limescale. Kitchen range (5 gas hobs/gas oven, narrow side electric oven) though large was inflexible in practice. No oven dishes or oven gloves. Had all our own essential items with which to use in cooking all our meals from scratch. After first checking cupboards, we chose instead to keep all our own items on worktop instead. Messaged April for info re drying facilities received no reply. Turned out W/Machine is also a tumble dryer.No washing line. Low walled courtyard has south facing seating area directly in front of 4 terraced houses front doors-no privacy. Needs thorough spring clean 1st, then reg cleaning regime, new bedding thereafter etc

Exceptional

The location is right in the middle of the town, with plenty of places to eat/drink nearby. Some lovely countryside walks nearby. The cottage inside is beautiful and has a very high standard of fixtures and fittings (the kitchen is better than my own !!) I wanted to put up some photos of the inside, but booking.com won't go back through my gallery far enough.

Nothing really, only for a 3 double bed cottage, maybe a larger toaster (only a 2 slice one in the cottage) but the cottage really is superb.

owner wasn’t available to provide entry until multiple calls made accommodation changed to 3 doubles after booking when four males required 4 separate beds - two doubles and a twin which was the case when booked
