Nice area, not so nice stay.

Met on arrival by the cleaner. Wi-Fi and internet speed was great. Property was clean, although it smelt very musty. Great pub down the road (Grampus Inn). Short distance to northern Devon locations. Games room and large grassy backyard.

The property, and one sofa, had a very unpleasant musty smell. For a single night we could have lived with it, but as we stayed 4 nights, we went to Tesco to buy air fresheners to make the accommodation less unpleasant. We didn’t find out until after booking that we needed to bring our own towels, bath mat, tea towels, and linen (only pillows and duvets provided). Advertised on Booking.com as ‘The entire place is yours’, however Hillymouth is 1 of 4 apartments in a larger country/farm house (see photos). The others, Whitestone (same floor, door opposite Hillymouth door), Stable Cottage, and The Flat are shown in the attached photos. There is insufficient comfortable seating, compared to number of beds. There is a 2 seater sofa, and a 2.5 seater sofa, so we’re lucky our youngest could squeeze onto the 2.5 seater with his siblings. The apartment has beds for 6 adults, there’s only sofas for 4. There was a bean bag, although this was mostly empty/flat. Had to set-up and pack-up table for each meal as it took up the whole kitchen area (see photo). The apartment needs some maintenance. Items noted include: heater in one room not working, bathroom window wouldn’t close, light fittings detached from ceiling in bathroom, finish on bathroom edging is peeling, and dodgy looking finish to end of bath. Games room full of building materials, including partially blocking the entrance. No toilet brush. No vacuum cleaner or broom. There was a dustpan and brush. Not such an issue for a one- or two-night stay, but for longer stays it would be nice. Ironing board but no iron (possibly in locked cupboard).

As long as you are able bodied this is a lovely place to come which is close to the beach

Firstly the area is lovely and it's easy distance into Ilfracombe , and Woolacombe and a short distance to Lynton and Lynmouth The apartment was lovely but in hindsight if I knew there would would be two lots of stairs I may have not booked that particular accommodation as my elderly stepdad had some issues getting up and down all week but we made the most of a lovely week

The only thing that I didn't like was the one lane traffic to get to the property can be quite busy at time there are pull in places but I found myself trying to reverse as the the person was quite reluctant to

Beautiful cottage

Beautiful, clean, jaw dropping surroundings, sea views, beautiful large garden. Fun games room. The best nearby pub. Watch the sun set from the patio.

Taking towels and linen took up a lot of car space. 7/10 on bed comfort.
