Location literally around the corner from friends we were visiting. Help yourself continental breakfast facilities.
Room felt cluttered and the bed was against the wall where the radiator was and the heating was on all night couldn’t turn it down too hot to sleep comfortably. Difficult to get out of bed during the night

Host was responsive. Linen was clean.
Felt like staying in student accommodation and instantly regretted booking. In all fairness I should have read the description more carefully.
House is too small to be used for this purpose, it was very cramped, creaky floorboards, uncomfortable and there is no privacy you can hear everything going on in the house. Bathroom is very old, low water pressure and shared with a lot of rooms.
Would not recommend couples / females book a room here my wife was not comfortable at all. The blinds do not cover the windows adequately and there were slats missing - the host advised blinds would be fixed but even if the slats were replaced you can still see outside and vice versa for the neighbouring properties across the street when the blinds are closed because there are huge gaps.
There was no parking available on the drive so street parking was the only option. The next day I had a slow puncture and found a nail in the tyre of our rental car and I suspect it was a neighbour who's fed up with the parking situation living next to an HMO.
We checked out on the first morning for what should have been an 8-night stay and currently chasing Booking.com for a partial refund to no avail. I don't feel great leaving a negative review but honestly this is one of the worst stays I've placed on Booking.com.

Breakfast was modest, but enough to get started in the day. However, there was a fully functional kitchen so I could cook for myself if I wanted to (although I didn't).
When I checked in, the wifi didn't work, which was a big problem for me. The phone number given as a contact to the owner was not recognized in the mobile network I subscribed to. However, I was able to send him a message via internal mail on booking.com and he responded very quickly.

Room was homely, with all the amenities you would need, TV, lamps, desk and chair, also many plugs with usb.
Mattress was a little soft for me but that is my problem.

The Helpful Staff: The staff were truly fantastic. Their genuine friendliness and willingness to assist with any small request made a real difference to my day-to-day experience.
Exceptional Comfort: The room was cozy, clean, and the bed was wonderfully comfortable, which is paramount after a long day of work. I always felt well-rested and ready for the next day.
Convenience for a Solo Traveller: The setup perfectly met the needs of a single guest. The ability to use the amenities and the calm, quiet environment made it easy to unwind and focus when needed.
Cleanliness and Condition: The accommodation was spotless and well-maintained. It was clear that attention was paid to the little details.
In truth, there was nothing significant that detracted from my stay.
If I had to mention one minor point for continuous improvement, it would be the occasional congestion for on-site parking at peak times, but even this was manageable with nearby street options.

Location is good in the middle of Didcot
Old musky smell. Dirty common areas. Pictures on booking do not match the reality. The place is more tired that on the photos

That I could park outside the property. That breakfast was supplied on a self-serve basis with cereals, fruit juice, milk and pastries. The bedroom was large and provided everything required.
The bathroom was shared but this did not cause me any problem. The TV did not seem to want to work although the host did attend to try to rectify this for me - thank you

Location was very convenient, room and bed were comfortable, clean and quiet. The self-service breakfast was simple but effective. Communication with the host about the self check-in was good.
Difficult to spot the house number as I arrived after dark. Trying back out of the driveway in the morning was very challenging as it now out that it's a busy main road between 8-9am.

Bedroom itself was great, nice to have some breakfast stuff.
Bathroom could’ve been neater.

Bed is super comfy. Everything is perfectly clean. Breakfast is great for UK standards. Self check-in. Walking distance to supermarket (and even train station, 20min).

I can't think of anything I'd need that wasn't provided apart from either air-conditioning or a window that opens. In fact there's too much stuff provided for a room of that size. The mattress is comfy (but the bed frame is noisy) the TV is very big for the size of the room and they even provided disposable toothbrushes and slippers! All you could eat from a "continental" breakfast is also included.
The room is very crowded so hardly room to move, do you really need an office chair? The bedside cabinet blocks access to the patio doors as do the impossibly difficult blinds and when it is hot, you'd have to sleep with the door open (if you can get to it) as there's no other ventilation. From the outside the building looks like it's about to fall down but it's fine inside (if a bit 1940's) it's also located in a housing estate about a mile from the town centre so you need a car.

The room and house have all things you need. A gym and swimming pool are nearby. It has not much luxury, but as I was here just to sleep this was not necessary. The matras was very comfortable.
There were cooking utensils and all, but not any oil for cooking. Some oil would've been helpful.

Easy to find, very neat and cosy. Breakfast is also good.
The property itself isn’t bad, but I got a room close to the road, so as a light sleeper, traffic disrupted my sleep

The house manager repeatedly made me feel very uncomfortable and when I didn't want to engage in his relentless, aggressive question asking he would call me strange. When I asked for a hairdryer (there wasn't one in the room) he rudely banged on my door a few days later and asked if I had used it yet and if not why not. I also asked him not to enter my room and instead leave the hairdryer outside, and again endless questions, rudeness and 'you're strange', to the point I started to feel unsafe staying there. The whole house is cramped, dated, worn out and smells stale/musty. The shower head is dirty, only trickles water (as others have pointed out) and the curtain is mouldy. Also, this room is next to the bathroom, has no soundproofing and the door handle slams against the wall so you'll need earplugs to prevent being woken by those using the bathroom in the morning. There is a washing machine but I was told I wasn't allowed to use it, which made things difficult as I was staying a week over the bank holiday weekend. The room door isn't hung correctly so has gaps so people from outside can see in. Also the window opposite the bed has no blinds so you'll be woken at sunrise. Overall an unpleasant stay, comments for improvement look to be ignored. I do not recommend it.

The bed was pretty good, I had a good sleep fr
Genuinely was not expecting it to be someone’s house. Like, the “hotel” is a normal house with locks on the doors.

During our stay, the landlord is come to meet us by allowing us to move to the room on the upper floor on the second day so that we could have the bathroom on the same floor.
The landlord parked his car in the street on the 2nd day so that all the guests could park in the courtyard.
The cleaning lady gave us valuable tips on how best to get to Oxford.
In this accommodation “Gateway House” there are 4 twin bedrooms - 2 on the ground floor, 2 on the first floor. The shared bathroom and toilet is only on the upper floor. It is very uncomfortable for guests staying in the ground floor to go to the toilet at night. In the bathroom there is an unusual system for heating water: First you have to pull on the chute that hangs from the ceiling - that's how the boiler gets electricity. Then, when you press a button on the boiler, water immediately flows out of the shower. If the boiler is switched off for a long time, the hot water in the washbasin only flows after the shower has been in operation. How the bathroom works is not explained anywhere - neither in writing nor verbally.
The accommodation shows a clear investment backlog. The light-coloured carpets are dirty, with brown stains of unknown origin. The toilet seat is discoloured and toilet brushes rusty. For breakfast, this accommodation offers an indoor table with max. 3 seats. In dry weather you can have breakfast in the small garden. However, you have to remove cobwebs from the chairs yourself beforehand. The second table made of cheap plastic was not cleanable - it has certainly seen better days. The garden would look much better if the tall grass was mown or if the view of the neighbour's storage space was obscured. We didn't use the shared kettle in the kitchen at all for hygienic reasons. According to the landlord, it was only calcified - so "normal". The kettles in the rooms were clean.
During breakfast, the landlord directed us how long we could leave the orange juice on the table, which we did not find particularly hospitable.

Host was very pleasant and helpful. Bed was comfortable.
Wasn't what I expected as a B&B. Host does not live onsite. There is no home cooked breakfast. Individual rooms with shared bathroom. Communal areas not so clean. Carpet stained. Noise radiates between rooms easily.

It had a bed! It was close to where we wanted to visit. Pub round the corner for evening meal.
4 rooms shared 1 bathroom. No smoke alarm in bedroom. Only 1 smoke alarm on ceiling in downstairs corridor. Carpet in bedroom stained. Pillow cases clean, bedding and towels but actual pillow interiors stained. Stair carpet and landing carpet dirty. Stair bannister greasy. Double bed against wall so person sleeping that side had to squeeze between the end of the bed as it was almost touching a table then shuffle up the bed.
No staff there - contact was by telephone or email. Would not recommend this B&B - not what we expected for £81

Shared (not entirely clean) bathroom for all rooms, and no hot water during the stay. Room was a squeeze for a couple to stay in and the TV didn't work. Walls were very thin. Felt like a run-down student accommodation.
