Happy to self cater in large kitchen. Utility room was an advantage.

Very quirky old cottage which gives an insight of these amazing buildings that have stood the test of time. Nicely presented. Full kitchen.
Very steep and narrow stairs. The property is on 3 levels and it’s quite a workout from the ground floor to the bedroom!

I was messaged with the code the day prior to our stay and it was very straightforward

Excellent location right in the middle of Alston, really handy for the little shops/pubs/Tyne River trail. Property was cosy and had everything we needed (parking was a bit higgledy piggledy), loved the quirkiness of the cottage, the facilities, will definitely be staying again for longer if the hosts have us!! Thank you x
Maybe supply the kindling for the fire. No complaints otherwise, fab place.

Delightful cottage, quirky, comfortable, warm, which was much appreciated at this time of year.
All rooms were pleasant with great attention to detail to make a very old house inviting and up to date
Spacious and attractive kitchen with underfloor heating
Great shower in warm, stylish bathroom
Very comfortable bed in pretty bedroom
Centrally located in picturesque Alston
Excellent communication with Sheila, who is responsive and very friendly
There is nothing we did not like.
Some reviewers referred to 'very narrow and steep stairs'. It almost put me off booking stokoe cottage.
The stairs are not narrow, nor are they particularly steep ( given the age of the house). They are also covered with thick carpet. Absolutely fine.

Close to town centre shops, pubs and cafe. Quiet at night.
Space to store bikes.
Mix up with preparation of cottage for new guests. Had to contact hosts who sorted it right away.
No 2 pin socket in bathroom for electric toothbrush.
Small oven in range, doesn't reach correct temperature. Large oven works fine.

Bright and comfortable and a good location
Only one toilet at top of the building. Would really benefit from a bottom floor toilet.

Awesome place. Really spacious and had everything we could need. A great stop on the Pennine Way and right in the middle of town.

Well, what a find.I have stayed in hundreds of B&B’s over many years, but never a cottage like this. I think I struck lucky. This small but exquisite property captured my heart. Maybe it is the ‘remote’ location. Perhaps it is its history. Whatever the reason, I shall make an effort to return. Thank you for allowing both me and the dog to reside (albeit for only one night, sadly). Exceptional.

Beautiful stay in a lovely peaceful village, very relaxing and having the real fire was a bonus after getting very wet on very rainy walks! Perfect size for 2 people and had everything you could need! Shop on the doorstep for everything you need to cook and garage with a butchers in round the corner so we could get plenty of food to cook in at home. Would definitely come again.
Area is very remote which is perfect for what we like and you can take lovely drives through the hills

Quirky and characterful cottage, perfect location, pub next door, wholefood shop, Cumberland Inn.
Nothing wrong.
But possibly provide a big serving dish for salad, check over crockery, place mats. Also there is a bench outside but we used our own comfy folding picnic chairs.

Alston is a lovely town with great walks either along pretty rivers, or up into the Pennines (Epiacum Roman Fort was a highlight). The cottage has loads of character, with everything a couple might need. The heater floor kitchen is very welcoming. Also had a nice dinner at the Cumberland Inn.

The house is superb, the hosts helpful and I thought the provision of dog towels was a very nice touch although I had brought my own. I just wish I could have stayed longer 11/10.

The property was spotless and well-maintained. Sheila and Colin were on the end of the phone and very quick to respond to queries. We liked the location. Perfectly situated to access the village facilities by foot, as well as the many local countryside walks.
Nothing to dislike.

The location was perfect and set in the heart of a beautiful and friendly town. Communication was great and we had absolutely no problems with the property at all. It was comfortable and spacious for the two of us with everything we needed.

Having clean bath, hand and tea towels along with all the standard things you need like salt, pepper, washing up liquid and cloth's is certainly a lot better than having to take it all with you. The heating was user friendly and the Wi Fi was good. Although we didn't use it much the kitchen was well equipped and the parking was convenient. We had a good stay and would book again if in the area.
It's not a criticism but maybe Netflix would be nice on those rainy days or cold nights. Appreciate there's an additional cost and not everyone would use it but it's just a thought.
