Disappointing and tiring

He seemed like a nice person, despite arguing about what my name was. Repeatedly.

He had double booked the room we had booked. We had had a long day and just wanted to go to our room but someone else was in it. So we had to drive to another property. Then he didn't have the keys so we had to wait longer for him to get them. He seemed surprised when he opened the door to the room and found the bed was made. It wasn't at all like the room we booked. Very odd. Lots of kitchen appliances piled on the side. No wardrobe. A weird desk wheely chair. A kitchen sink. The door only closed properly when you locked it. It didn't feel safe. He lingered in the room for ages talking at us. From us turning up at the home we had booked to him leaving us, it was probably an hour. After the drunk couple turned up next door, we realised they had backed into our car on the street. We grabbed our things and left. I asked for a refund for the 2 nights but received no response and an £11 voucher "towards travel" from Booking. All in all- an awful experience.

Excellent value for money

The owner/manager was extremely professional and courteous. Room was clean and quiet and all of the accessories worked. The kitchen is fully equipped with every you need. The shower worked fine and the bathroom clean.

Host was great. Explained everything and was exceptionally cordial. Great location 10 minutes walking to town centre. Parked car right outside property. Very comfortable bed. Definitely will use again.

Brilliant service

This is such a well run guesthouse. First class service, and so relaxed and friendly. The decor is reasonably basic, as you'd expect for the price, but the rooms are so well equipped, everything you need. Really clean too. And the location excellent - short walk to the centre but also really quiet. Top place.

Whitburn guest house is clean and comfortable. Situated in a quite residential street it is convenient for town centre and close to a pleasant park. The hosts were welcoming without being overbearing. I particularly liked having a patio and well equipped kitchen available for the use of the guests.

Great host and comfortable bed

The staff were amazing and helped me out after an unforseen event. Early check in was a bonus and use of the kitchen was a bonus. Great experience and I'd advise anyone who goes to Doncaster to stay here. Thanks so much and I will definitely stay again.

Horrible.

The guest house is terraced house in middle of a scruffy street and would not recommend to stop here. The shared kitchen had pots on the drainer, I opened the air fryer on the side and a disgusting smell and not been cleaned. The picture must be years old, our room was run down and needs cleaning and renovation done. The reviews saying exceptional are definitely not from people who’s stopped there.

Remove the guest house and put down it’s a terrace house. Renovate and clean the place. Remove the reviews because no one would say exceptional about this place.

Great value for money,

When we first pulled up we thought we had got the wrong place. The guest house was in a terraced street. Our fears were quickly dispelled by the host Sarge. tottal Gentleman. Room was clean and well equipped. Free on street parking just outside was a big plus. When we factored in the price.... not shure we could have found a better deal in Doncaster.

Not a whole lot. everything worked out just fine for us. Just goes to show you should never judge books by the covers. First impressions can sometimes be mis-leading, which is exactly what happened with us.

There was a friendly, informative welcome, the street was mainly quiet and it was just 15 mins walk to the station.

It was simple and basic, plain walls, brown curtains, brown fabric headboard, a bedside light you couldn’t reach from the bed, a huge wardrobe (why?) in a relatively small room but it was clean and the bed comfortable. Shower had good pressure but I could only marginally vary the temp from scalding to hot. TV doesn’t do regular channels, just internet streaming, but at least it wasn’t tiny and tinny. Overall functional but not enjoyable. Pity, because the host was a very nice man.
