Why drive hours when a great affordable vacation is so close?
Welcome to relaxing Whispering Pines Wells with its own private association sandy beach that is just a three minute walk away. This is a four season getaway retreat that is outfitted and furnished with the vacationer in mind. The home itself is a beautiful 2 bedroom cottage with a large outdoor deck surrounded by towering pine trees. It’s the perfect place to get out of the city and disconnect in nature or to use as a base for all your ADK adventures.
The first floor has a fully equipped modern kitchen and dining area, a living room with vaulted ceilings, a flat screen tv, dvd player and a freestanding gas fireplace. The first floor bedroom has a queen size bed. Across the hall is a full bathroom with a tub and a shower, as well as a washer and dryer.
In the upper level is a large bedroom that features a queen size bed. There is also a half bath on the second floor. The loft area has a twin bed and a desk, if you have to work, with a view of the lake.
The large front deck is great for entertaining and a screen porch adds outdoor living space in the warmer months. It has a porch glider, balcony chairs and a patio table.
There is a fire pit for your evening enjoyment. A gas grill is also available for you to use.
Guests will be able to enjoy central air conditioning in the summer and central heat for the winter months.
We are no longer able to provide sheets and towels. Guests will need to bring their own.
In the summer and fall, there are many hikes in the area to waterfalls, mountain tops and the Northville-Lake Placid Trail. A great bike ride is the 3.5 mile loop around the lake and through the town. In the spring, you can go fishing in the lake or one of many nearby rivers. In the winter months, it is only 20 minutes to Lapland Lakes cross-country skiing, 20 minutes to Oak Mountain and 40 minutes to Gore Mountain.
Inside Whispering Pines you will find 500 mbps fiber internet with WiFi, YouTube TV, a DVD player, MANY streaming channels as well as books, games and puzzles.
There is a fully outfitted kitchen with a k-cup coffee maker, a drip coffee maker, crock pot and a blender. Outside there is a large flat yard, and many outdoor chairs for enjoying the fire pit.
We have FOUR kayaks, a 15' canoe and a Sunfish sailboat, with all the accessories. There are carts for transporting the watercraft the short two minute trip to the launching area.
In the small town of Wells, we have a couple of general stores and a new, quite excellent, coffee cafe. At the Town Green, there are tennis/pickle ball courts, basketball hoops and a playground.
Although our town doesn't have any restaurants, there are many excellent ones just a short scenic drive away.
We enjoy the Southern Adirondacks and have been vacationing in this area since we were children. For a long time, it has been a dream of ours to own a home on a lake and in the mountains. Our hope is to share our good fortune with families like yours, who want to enjoy the fun and excitement of Lake Algonquin and all the magic that this region offers, but then want to retreat to the whispering pines, to reflect on the day, and dream about tomorrow.

The house is beautiful. The area is beautiful and quiet. Just wasn't sure why the beds weren't made and we couldn't find the towels and the sheets. We eventually found them but it was the next day. Maybe add their location to the instruction sheet. Other than that everything was really quite wonderful and we would love to stay there again.

Possibly the best equipped self-catering accommodation we've stayed in yet. It really felt like the owners used the property themselves, and so didn't short change the quality and quantity of supplies. It was great to have plenty of dishes, cutlery, dishes, bowls, and trays. The accommodation itself was really lovely, clean and up-to-date, and in a nice little spot. The kids loved the firepit and the kayaks. My husband and I enjoyed jogging the 5k, mostly flat, road around the lake (and then enjoying a very brisk, very quick swim in the lake). Lots of hiking nearby, wish we could have stayed longer!
