The Belvedere Hotel

Room was bigger than average for NYC. Old but well-maintained. Has character! Location was great - close to everything you need and Times Square.

It's an old hotel so walls aren't sound-proof. One night was quiet but another night we were awoken by a crying baby at 4 AM. We had ear plugs so we used those - pro tip: these are mandatory in NYC anyways. We didn't hear street noise as we were on the 15th floor, but Manhattan is a loud place no matter where you stay.

Architecture, time patina, classical New York feeling.

Proximity to Broadway was perfect. We could explore the city and return to our hotel to change before going to shows. Staff was wonderful. Provided extra pillows. Loved that there was a mini fridge.

Rooms could have been cleaner upon arrival.

The location is excellent. It is within walking distance of pretty much everything. The staff was super friendly and helpful.

As soon as we got to the room we began noticing some things were broken, like the bathroom door handle and the phone. When I grabbed the handle to the bathroom it slid right off. We tried calling the front desk, but the phone was not working. We went down to the front desk to let them know and they sent someone to fix it right away. The beds and pillows are super uncomfortable. The pillows were so thin and hard, I tossed and turned all night and woke up with a stiff neck. The AC unit would turn on and off all night not keeping the room a steady temperature, so I would wake every now and then hot or cold. The only ice machine is down by the lobby, so having to go from the 11th floor all the way down and then back is a huge inconvenience.
